This city breathes hockey and the list of outstanding players coming from Ornskoldsvik is long: Peter Forsberg, Markus Naslund, Daniel and Henrik Sedin, Victor Hedman, Niklas Sundstrom, Tobias Enstrom just to name a few of them. The history of Ornskoldsvik begins already during the age of Bronze and got cityrights on July 1, 1894. The city has been named after the governor Per Abraham Ornskold and is one of the few cities in Sweden that has been named after an individual. The population in Ornskoldsvik is nearly 60 000 persons where around 33 000 of them lives in the city center. The city center offers shopping, restaurants, coffee shops and a big public bath with SPA, water parks and slides. PHOTO: Hakan Nordstrom 4 Welcome to Fjallraven Center in Ornskoldsvik Fjallraven Center opened in august 2006 and was initially called Swedbank Arena. From 2010 it has been called Fjallraven Center and since then this arena has been one of the central event centers in Ornskoldsvik. Essentially, the arena is used by MODO Hockey, but it is also used for concerts and other bigger events throughout the year. - 7049 spectators - 2 restaurants - 6 sports bars - 44 boxes on lounge floor - 8 kiosks - 800 m to city center MODO Hockey has their own museum on the second floor of the arena. With its 125 000 inhabitants, Umea is the largest city in northern of Sweden. Umea University with some 35 000 students from all over the world, contributes to a unique, creative vibe in Umea. Bjorkloven means birch leaves, and this you will find a lot in this city with some 5 000 birch trees planted only in the city centre. That´s why Umeo is also known as the City of birch trees. In 2001 a major renovation was carried out. Since December 18, 2017 the name is A3 Arena.
