This year’s Rainbow Trails publication is dedicated to ..

Gail O’Connor Mark Mancha Loretta Guinan Julie Buckman Boulder Las Vegas Mt. Rose Daylite Assembly #8 Assembly #9 Assembly #13 Assembly #22

Our Nevada Rainbow would like to thank these Grand Deputies for their service to our girls over a cumulative three decades of time.

Mrs. Gail O’Connor has served as Grand Deputy of Boulder Assembly #8 since 2007. Mr. Mark Mancha served as Grand Deputy of Daylite Assembly #22 for two years beginning in 2004; he then served Las Vegas Assembly #9 beginning in 2011. Mrs. Loretta Guinan as served as Grand Deputy of Mt. Rose Assembly #13 since 2003. Mrs. Julie Buckman has served as Grand Deputy of Daylite Assembly since 2006.

With the obvious exception of Mr. Mancha, each has served her assembly as Mother Advisor and in various other capacities before being appointed Grand Deputy. Mr. Mancha also served as Director of Membership-South and as our State Rainbow Dad in 2010-11. Each has continued to provide guidance to our girls and adults, dedicating countless hours of time, and given selflessly. Each has helped mold the character of many girls, both in their own assemblies and throughout Nevada. Each has traveled across our vast desert many, many times with a car full of girls to the next Official Visit, Rainbow Camp or Grand Assembly. Each has shared their individual talents with us – and for all of this, Nevada Rainbow says – THANK YOU! Enjoy your retirement – visit often – remain part of our family. Rainbow Trails 2014

“Down the Rabbit Hole”

Annie Downing and Megan Sakelarios Grand Editors

Mrs. Bonnie Bunch Director of Publications 2014 Grand Oficers

This Publication acknowledges allegiance to the Supreme Assembly, International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, whose seat of authority isin McAlester, Oklahoma, USA, of which Rev. W. Mark Sexson was the founder, of which Mrs. Mary Adeline Bradford is the Supreme Worthy Advisor, and to the Grand Jurisdiction of Nevada of which Mrs. Joanie Jacka is Supreme Hope and Supreme Inspector and Jessica Wright is the Grand Worthy Advisor.

2 3 2014 Grand Worthy Advisor A Message from Jessica... Lewis Carroll was noted for his aptitude at word play, logic, fantasy, and literary nonsense. He was a very awkward man with a lot of health issues, yet he was still a very charismatic man. His flaws never stopped him from making a lasting impact on the entire world, because he used his strengths and his weaknesses to his advantage.

The past few years I have kept a few virtues very close to my heart, and I am not afraid to advocate them to others. I strongly believe that everybody needs to do whatever makes them happy. Life is too short to be living it dissatisfied. Often times people have a notion that they are incapable of getting to where they will be the happiest. Only you can be the change you wish to see in yourself. Just like Mr. Carroll, you have to learn how to use your strengths and your weaknesses to your advantage.

This year has been a crazy, and yet fantastic journey as we traveled to Wonderland. That journey would not have been near what it was without every person in Nevada Rainbow. Between the adults and the girls, you each have made a lasting impact on me, and I thank you for it. Without your support, whether you knew you were giving it or not, this year would not have been as enjoyable as it was. It has been such an honor to serve you as your Grand Worthy Advisor this year, and I hope you take all the memories and friendships that have been created throughout the year, and carry them with you for the years to come, just like I will.

Rainbow teaches us to be better people by giving our lives to Service, and thus leaving our mark on others’ lives, giving them joy. Being a Rainbow Girl has taught me a lot, but most of all it taught me how to recognize what makes me happy.

One of the secrets of life is that all that is really worth the doing is what we do for others.

-Lewis Carroll Welcome to Wonderland!

Sarah was the Grand Editor Jenelle Bailey this year, and let me tell you, she worked hard. It was a good thing that she had some Desaray Weber background experience with InDesign and Publisher and all of those technological Meghan Harrison type things, but it was still hard work. The start of my term was my installation! My theme was Sweet 16, with zebra, sparkle and pink everywhere. In the beginning we had many fun meetings like animal print, polka dots and slippers, and tie dye. We also are having meetings like prom night where the girls get to dress up, curly hair and red lips and other exciting meetings. My service project was of course Project Linus for kids who have lost everything and needed something to hold on to, so my assembly and I made beautiful blankets provided to us by a member of our assembly’s work . My fun project was roller skating at crystal palace with members of DeMolay and members of Rainbow. My term has turned out to be a success because of the friendships we were able to make with the new DeMolay chapter of Henderson and other assembly’s. Our OV was themed Snow White

My Faith Looks Up To Thee In The Garden Sung after Faith receives the candidates while they are walking Sung while Faith conducts candidate to Station of Nature

My faith looks up to thee, I come to the garden alone, while the dew is still on the roses, Thou lamb of Calvary, Savior divine. And the voice I hear falling on my ear, the Son of God discloses. Now hear my while I pray. And he walks with me, and He talks with me, and he tells me I am his own. Take all my guilt away. And the joy we share as we tarry there, none other has ever known. Oh, let me from this day, be wholly thine.

Face To Face Have Thine Own Way, Lord Sung while Faith conducts candidate to Station of Immortality Sung as Faith conducts candidates to alter for obligation Face to face with Christ my Savior. Face to face, what will it be? Have thine own way lord, have thine own way. When with rapture I behold him, Jesus Christ, who died for me. Thou art the potter, I am the clay. Face to Face I shall behold him, far beyond the starry sky. Mold me and make me, after Thy will, Face to face, in all his glory, I shall see him by and by. while I am waiting, yielding and still.

I Would Be True Nearer My God To Thee Sung while Faith Conducts candidate to Station of Fidelity Sung after Chaplain’s prayer and after the Worthy Advisor stands I would be true, for there are those who trust me. Nearer my God to Thee, nearer to Thee! I would be pure, for there are those who care, Even though it be a cross, that raiseth me. I would be strong, for there is much to suffer, Still all my song shall be, nearer my God to Thee. I would be brave, for there is much to bear. Nearer my God to Thee, nearer to Thee. I would be brave, for there is much to bear.

It Only Takes A Spark America, The Beautiful Sung while Faith conducts candidate to Station of Love Sung while Faith conducts candidate to Station of Patriotism

It only takes a spark to get a fire going. Oh Beautiful for spacious skies, for amber Waves of grain, And soon all those around will warm up in its glowing. for purple mountains majesties above the fruited plain. That’s how it is with God’s love, once you’ve experienced it. America! America! God shed his face on thee, You spread his love to everyone; you want to pass it on. And crown thy good with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea.

I Love To Tell The Story Help Somebody Today Sung while Faith conducts the candidate to the Station of Religion Sung while Faith conducts candidate to Station of Service

I love to tell the story, of unseen things above, Look all around you. Find someone in need. Help somebody today. of Jesus and his glory, of Jesus and His love. Tho it be little, a neighborly deed, help somebody today. I love to tell the story, because I know ‘tis true. Help somebody today, somebody along life’s way.
