The Braves finished the 2012-13 season seventh in the KCAC, qualifying for the conference tournament for the 11th straight season. Under Tate’s tutelage Amber Ramsey earned Second Team All-KCAC honors and finished the year ranked 19th in NAIA Division II in blocks per game (1.7) and 19th in total blocks (51). The Braves finished the 2012-13 season ranked 37th in NAIA Division II in blocks per game (3.2), 42nd in scoring defense per game (61.7), 42nd in total blocks (93), and 49th in free throw percentage (.693). The Braves excelled in the classroom with Ramsey and Morgan Boore being named Daktronic Scholar Athletes.

The 2011-12 team finished with an overall record of 12-16 and a KCAC finish of 10-8, tying for fourth with Sterling College. The 12 wins were the most since the 2006-07 season for the Lady Braves. Under Tate’s tutelage Paige Gibson earned First Team All-KCAC honors, Shannon Carlin was named Honorable Mention All-KCAC, and Amber Ramsey was the third straight Brave to be named to the KCAC Champions of Character Team. The Braves finished the season ranked 28th in NAIA Division II in turnover margin (2.5), 32nd in steals per agme (10.4), 33rd in blocks per game (3.1), 39th in three point field goals made per game (5.9), 43rd in total blocks (89), 46th in scoring defense per game (62.4), 48th in three point field goals made (166), 48th in assist/turnover ratio (0.734), and 49th in assists per game (13.1).

Under Tate’s leadership the 2010-11 team finished with an overall record of 11-18 and a KCAC record of 8-10. The Braves finished the season ranked sixth in the KCAC. OU had three Lady Braves earned All-KCAC honors with Maggie Hasenkamp and Tessa Porter earned Honorable Mention honors and Amber Ramsey being named to the All-KCAC Freshmen Team. For the second year in a row a Brave was named to the KCAC Champions of Character team with Taryn Morris earning the honor. OU finished the season ranked 36th in NAIA Division II in defensive field goal percentage (0.376), 50th in three point field goals made per game (6), and 50th in total defensive rebounds (37.6). The Braves continued their excellent work in the classroom as Paige Gibson, Kylie Covey, and Emma Hartzler were all named Daktronic Scholar Athletes and the team was named a NAIA Scholar Team.

Tate led his 2009-10 team to an overall record of 7-23 and a sixth place finish in the KCAC with a record of 5-13. OU won is opening round game in the KCAC Tournament for the sixth time in seven seasons. Under Tate’s leadership, Misty Stone earned All-KCAC Honorable Mention. Tate had his first KCAC Champion of Character Award winner as Kylie Covey earned the honor. With Tate at the helm, the Lady Braves finished the year ranked 23rd in NAIA Division II in three point field goals made (216), 27th in three point field goals made per game (7.2) and 50th in three point field goal percentage (.325). The Lady Braves excelled in the class room with Covey, Emma Hartzler, Paige Gibson and Mallory Mueller earning NAIA Daktronic Scholar Athlete honors. To go along with that the team was named a NAIA Scholar Team.

In 2008-09, Tate led the Braves to an overall record of 9-20 and a KCAC record of 8-10, good for fifth place in the conference He coached two All-KCAC performers, Marie Goyette and Sammi Ronnebaum, and had six Lady Braves earn NAIA Scholor Athlete honors; Mallory Mueller, Kylie Covey, Emma Hartzler, Kelsey Nelson, Stef Randa, and Sam Reno.

During the 2007-08 season, he guided a young squad to a 7-23 overall record and a 5-13 KCAC record. OU finished eighth in the KCAC and won its opening round game of the KCAC Tournament for the fifth straight year. OU placed two players on the All-KCAC teams. Rachel Brown was an All-KCAC Honorable Mention selection and Emma Hartzler was named to the KCAC All-Freshman team. The Lady Braves placed five players on the Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete team; Jara Vance, Stef Randa, Sam Reno, Mallory Mueller, and Kelsey Nelson.

Before being named head coach, Tate spent nine years as an assistant coach for the Lady Braves basketball team and was also the head junior varsity coach. He helped lead OU to four straight KCAC Championship games, winning three. Tate has also helped lead the Lady Braves to three appearances in the NAIA Division II National Tournament in Sioux City, Iowa, and a Sweet 16 appearance in 2006-07. He coached three NAIA Division II All-Americans; Gina Wheat (2003-04), Hallie Boyce (2005-06, 2006-07) and BrittanyGame Broyles 14 (2006-07). at William Jewell College

In addition to coaching basketball, Tate is an assistant athletic director and an instructor in physical education. He graduated from OU in 2000 with a degree in physical education emphasizing in recreation administration and health and fitness. He also earned a Master of Science degree in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation from Emporia State University in 2005.

Tate and his wife Missy live in Ottawa, Kan.
