The League is still seeking host venues for its first ever triple-header Finals Day on Sunday August 14, and the match against the MCC, likely to be played on Wednesday August 31. Unlike previous years, the Finals Day could take place at the ground of a League member club – however the option of going to a non-member club remains.

The League invites suggestions from clubs as to any charities it could support this year.

Clubs are asked to note that later in 2016, it is expected to become a criminal offence for an organisation (such as a cricket club) to allow an individual to carry out a ‘regulated’ activity that involves child welfare responsibilities without having obtained a valid DBS check and a Barred list check. The ECB has announced that the host organisations for the six Women’s Super League franchises are:

Cricket Board (team to be known as )  Yorkshire County Cricket Club ()  Loughborough University (Loughborough Lightning)  Surrey County Cricket Club ()  Hampshire Cricket ()  Somerset County Cricket Club / Gloucestershire County Cricket Club / University of Exeter ()

These franchises have been awarded for the next four seasons.

The first Women’s Super League will see the country’s leading 78 players and 12 overseas players divided into six semi-professional teams, and one based at each host.

The tournament will feature 15 group matches, with each team playing the others once, to be played between July 30 and August 14. 11 of these matches will be played at the main ground of the host county, so for example Lancashire Thunder will play one home match at Old Trafford and another at , while Yorkshire will play both home matches at Headingley. The ‘Roses’ match will be a floodlit affair at Old Trafford on August 12. Finals Day will be at the Essex County Ground in Chelmsford on August 21. The full fixture schedule can be found here.

The ECB’s current intention is to expand the competition to include 50 over cricket from 2017.

Scorers’ courses in Cheshire:

Sunday March 13 – Club Scorers’ Course at Toft CC. A one day course covering the basics of scoring, ideal for those with little or no experience. Cost £30, open to non-ACO members.
