NORTHWESTERN Self-Guided Campus Tour PARKING INFORMATION ADDRESS: Walter Athletics Center 2255 Campus Drive Evanston, IL 60208 ATHLETICS FACILITIES MAP North Campus Ryan Fieldhouse Parking Walter Garage Athletics Center Parking Lot Parking Lakeside Lot Martin Field Stadium ON WEEKDAYS Please park in the North Campus Parking Garage as shown above. There is an $9 daily charge for parking during the week. Upon arrival, head towards the main entrance of the Walter Athletics Center, designated by the star on the map. You will see Martin Stadium (soccer/lacrosse field) to begin the tour. ON WEEKENDS Parking is free on weekends. We recommend parking in the parking lot closest to Lakeside Field (field hockey stadium) on the bottom of the map. Upon arrival, head towards Martin Stadium (soccer/lacrosse field) to begin the tour. CaMPUS TOUR PATH END START PART 1: LAKEFRONT Begin the Tour: Walk to the Lakefront Trail and turn right onto the path towards the practice fields. Practice Fields The Walter Athletics Center overlooks Lake Michigan, Martin Stadium, and Hutcheson Field. Northwestern Football uses both fields during practice. The lakefront has even hosted College GameDay. Kellogg Global Hub Next to Hutcheson Field is the Kellogg Global Hub. Completed in 2017, this 415,000-square foot building is home to the top-5 business school in the country and even has a fitness center, lockers, and a café for its students and faculty. Lakefront Trail The Lakefront Trail has two beaches and a sailing center to rent paddleboards, kayaks, and boats. The green is Wi-Fi enabled so students can study. There is also a running path and bonfire pit. Next Step: Cross the pedestrian bridge and turn right. PART 2: LAKEFILL Musical Arts Center & Arts Circle Along the lakefront are the Ryan Center for the Musical Arts and Arts Circle. Our alumni have won Emmys, Oscars, Grammys, and are featured on national networks. Celebrities such as Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus are all Wildcats. Lakefill On your right is the Lakefill. It is an extension of the waterfront campus and is a common study and hangout area for students. Norris University Center Norris is the main student center on campus. It is home to hundreds of student organizations offering a range of recreational, cultural, educational, and social opportunities. Norris also contains a dining center, study lounges, and hosts a range of events. Next Step: Make a left at the Norris University Center and continue onto Campus Drive. PART 3: ARTS CIRCLE Arts Circle On your left is Arts Circle. As previously mentioned, it is home to a range of events and claims many famous alumni. Segal Visitors Center The Segal Visitors Center will be on your left. This is where students can get parking passes. Next Step: Turn right when you pass the Segal Visitors Center. Walk along Sheridan Road to the corner. PART 4: TRADITIONS Weber Arch Weber Arch is the entrance to campus. Each fall, the Northwestern marching band leads the first-year class under the arch as upperclassmen cheer them on. The roles reverse in the spring when the graduating seniors march out through the arch. Next Step: Walk through Weber Arch and follow the path towards University Hall University Hall & The Rock University Hall is the oldest building on campus and holds multiple classrooms. The Rock can be watched via webcam as students can camp out and guard it for 24 hours to earn the right to paint it, usually to promote student groups and events. Next Step: Make a left when you pass by University Hall. You will walk by Deering Meadow and Deering Library. PART 5: INNOVATION Deering Library Deering Library is one of three libraries on campus. It is the main library and is open 24 hours a day during finals week. Next Step: Follow the path past Deering Library until you reach Northwestern Place and parking lot. Make a left to head onto Sheridan Road, then turn right. Ford Design Center & Technical Institute On your right is the Ford Design Center and the Technical Institute. Northwestern is on the cutting edge of innovation. Tech Institute is one of the largest academic buildings in the world. Northwestern gives out more than $3 million for undergraduate research across all disciplines. The Garage is a 24/7 innovation space for students to work on projects. Next Step: Continue on Sheridan Road until you reach the residence halls. You will see a blue sign that says “Entrance I.” Turn right. There is a residence hall at the end of the path. Make a right until you reach the quad. PART 6: RESIDENCE HALLS Residence Halls The residence halls are literally across the street from the Walter Athletics Center. While there are residence halls across campus, players will stay on this side for convenience. Next Step: When you are at the quad, head left to walk towards the Walter Athletics Center. You will pass by basketball courts on your left. You then have a couple of options. IF YOU HEAD LEFT: Parking Garage / Beach You can walk around the parking garage and Walter Athletics Center to see the student beach. Players from all teams hang out here when the weather is warm. Continue walking on the trail to end up by the staff parking lot and practice fields. IF YOU HEAD STRAIGHT: Main Entrance You will return to the main entrance of the Walter Athletics Center as well as the parking lots and practice fields. Next Step: END OF CAMPUS TOUR! PART 7: RYAN FIELD ADDRESS: Ryan Field 1501 Central St Evanston, IL 60208 Capacity: 47,130 Field Surface: Grass Located in the heart of Evanston, Ryan Field is perfect for fans to tailgate in the parking lots or take advantage of all the restaurants around the stadium before heading in to cheer on the Wildcats. Gamedays are also a special time for families of players and staff, who all gather together for a NUFB tailgate before and after the game.
