Sheila Bremner Interim Chief Officer and Clinical Commissioning Group Lockton House Clarendon Road CB2 8FH

Our Ref: ZA67614 9 January 2018

Dear Ms Bremner,

I am writing at the suggestion of Muscular Dystrophy UK on behalf of my constituents with neuromuscular conditions regarding an new online resource that has been developed for GPs to increase awareness and knowledge of neuromuscular conditions.

As the Member of Parliament for Cambridge I would appreciate your support in promoting the new e-learning opportunity by sharing the module with your GP network and encouraging GPs to enrol.

Muscular Dystrophy UK and the Royal College of General Practitioner (RCGP) have launched the first ever online course for GPs on the presentation and management of neuromuscular conditions in primary care.

The new module, which is hosted on the Royal College of General Practitioners e-learning training website, takes an hour to complete and is worth 1 accredited continued professional development point. The course is also free to GPs who are members of the Royal College. The course is accessible on the RCGP website under the Neuromuscular Disorders Tab on the Home Page (http://elearning.rcgp.org.uk/course/info.php?popup=0&id=183http://elearning.rc gp.org.uk/course/info.php?popup=0&id=183).

Muscular Dystrophy UK has been working in partnership with individual CCGs to run a neuromuscular awareness session as part of individual CCGs protected leaning programmes. Sessions, led by a local GP/clinician, are aimed both at improving GPs medical knowledge of neuromuscular conditions as well as promoting the local care offered in specialist neuromuscular centres. I would like to request a slot in your CCGs’ protected learning programme be allocated to neuromuscular conditions and suggest working with Muscular Dystrophy UK to achieve this.
