ANNUAL REPORT 2015-2016

Dear Friends and Benefactors of Pope John Paul II School,

I have frequently asked myself the question, “What essential characteristics make a school great?” Of course, you have to have good teachers, a variety of students, caring parents, a good envi- ronment for learning, and good resources and instructional mate- rials. My next question is, “What makes a great Catholic school?” My answer to that is most definitely all of the above as well as, community, commitment, caring, and a common purpose. The purpose of any Catholic school is “to know, to love, and to serve God in this world and to be happy with Him in the next.” If you CONTENTS recognize those words you probably went to a Catholic school in the 1950’s. Since then, the methods may have changed, certainly Principal’s Letter…………………….. 1 the resources have changed, but the ultimate outcome is still the same, to bring Christ to the children and to bring the children to Special Accomplishments………… 2 Christ. Doing that requires the care and commitment of the en- Financial Report………………………4 tire community. You have been an integral part of all that has been accomplished here at PJPII for passing on our faith to the Annual Fund Donors……………….. 5 next generation and for preparing them for the next steps in their Matching Gifts, Grants education and eventually for their place in Church and in society. & Scholarships……………………….. 6 By working together in this way, we fulfill a very simple, yet pro- found mandate of the Gospel, “Let the children come to me.” Memorial Donations ………………...7 Thank you for helping us to make the following projects a reality: EITC/Tuition Assistance………… 8 A prayer room or sacred space for teachers and students, the building of the playground, the beautiful sign at the entrance of United Way/Engraved Pavers .… 8 the property, the completion of the top floor with six classrooms Special Events ……………………….. 9 and an Art studio, the purchase of 120 iPads for classroom use, new interactive projectors, the construction of the baseball field, 200 chrome books for our upper grade classrooms, a new Religion series, and new science and reading textbooks. As you read through the pages of this report, you will see the amazing accom- plishments and support of so many throughout this past year. You will also see the smiling faces of the children who are touched by Pope John Paul II Regional Catholic your generosity each and every day. They thank you as well for Elementary School your goodness and for caring about Catholic education.

2875 Manor Road Please know that the children, the faculty, and the staff pray for West Brandywine, PA 19320 all of you each and every day during our morning prayer. As you remember us so generously, so do we remember you faithfully. 610.384.5961 God bless your generous care, and commitment to the children of PJPII School. You are the community who keeps the purpose and www.popejohnpaul2sch.org the vision alive.

Gratefully, in Mary’s Immaculate Heart,

OUR SCHOOL HISTORY

Our school has a rich and historic back- ground dating back to 1907. In 1970, the parishes of St. Cecilia, St. Joseph and St. Stanislaus Kostka consolidated their parish schools into Coatesville Area Catholic Ele- mentary School (CACES). Originally housed in three buildings at each parish, the CACES students finally moved to the present 30- acre site and state of the art facility in 2007.

Today, PJP II families are members of Our Lady of the Rosary, St. Joseph, St. Peter During Catholic Schools Week, students acknowledged local and Our Lady of Consolation parishes. PJPII police and firefighters with thank you cards, donuts and coffee. is an Archdiocesan Regional School.
