The other reason is the fact that people from rural villages (of Lesotho and Free State province) where the tradition of Litema is practiced, have been relocating to urban areas for education and better job opportunities. That prompted me to play part in preserving the history of the art form by fusing it in my work – I did not want part of history that represents me as a Mosotho to die.” And like the artist that he is, he set course and sailed to greater heights, art has always been part of who he is, from when he was in kinder garden, his high schooling years and right now as a father and husband. Besides his books, I have no memory of seeing my uncle draw so there was no one who was into art in the family.” He was fortunate enough to have a family that supports his craft and cheered him on from a young age. Armed with a 3-year Creative Multimedia Diploma majoring in Advertising Design from the National Electronic Media Institute of South Africa (NEMISA) it took Baba 6 years after graduating to find his voice and style.
