To also facilitate economic and social development and prosperity through the efficient movement of people and goods and to facilitate intermodal connections within Alabama. ALDOT must also demand excellence in transportation and be involved in promoting adequate funding to promote and maintain Alabama’s transportation infrastructure. Code of Alabama 23-1-35 On or before April 1 in each year, the State Department of Transportation shall submit a printed report to the Governor, stating as nearly as possible the number of miles of road built or improved and also the culverts and bridges constructed during the preceding fiscal year, showing the cost and general character of same, and the location of material suitable for road construction, showing where such roads, culverts, and bridges have been constructed.
