According to social scientists, when a state fails to ensure the protection of human rights of its citizens, it is considered as failed state. The United Nations possesses the authority to monitor the actions of member States for the protection and promotion of human rights around the globe. Bangladesh, as a member of the United Nations and signatory to a large number of international human rights treaties and conventions, has an obligation to ensure the rights of its people.
