SERIES 2012

Netball New Zealand are hosting the World Netball Series 2012 at Vector Arena, Auckland from the 9th – 11th November. The top six countries in the world (New Zealand, Australia, England, South Africa, Jamaica and Malawi) will compete in the series.

Hosting the series is an exciting opportunity for and the wider netball community. However in order to successfully roll out this event, we require the help of workforce volunteers over the three tournament days and prior to the event commencing.

APPOINTMENT INFORMATION

1. The appointment of personnel to the Fast5 Netball World Series (NWS) 2012 is at the sole discretion of the NWS 2012 Organising Committee.

2. Criteria which are considered in appointments include but are not limited to;

• Previous event appointments • Qualifications • Experience

3. Workforce personnel appointed to attend are responsible for the arrangement and cost of their own – a. Travel b. Visas/Passports c. Transfers to and from the airport/accommodation d. Insurance – travel/medical e. Some meals

Unless otherwise notified in writing by the NWS 2012 Organising Committee.

4. NWS 2012 will; a. Provide meals to workforce personnel while on duty at the venue b. Arrange, book and pay for accommodation for specified workforce members c. Provide 2 official branded shirts – to be worn as directed (TBC)

5. All workforce personnel appointed must be available from Thursday 8th November 2012 to Sunday 11th November 2012 inclusive. Unless informed otherwise by the NWS Organising Committee in writing.

Note: If changes are made to the duration of an individual’s appointment, they will be informed by the NWS 2012 Organising Committee in writing.

6. If after appointment an appointee is unable to attend the event they will notify in writing to the NWS 2012 Organising Committee, as soon as possible. Any costs, which may be related to their withdrawal, are the responsibility of the individual

7. Any costs incurred by the NWS 2012 Organising Committee as a result of the un- notified withdrawal of an individual after acceptance of appointment may be invoiced to the individual.

8. The NWS 2012 Organising Committee reserves the right to appoint and allocate individuals throughout the event based on the assessment of an individual’s performance and the event requirements.

9. If there are any disputes or incidents arising from these conditions and/or any matters not covered in these conditions relating to the appointment of workforce personnel and/or related to the rules, regulations and policies of the event, reference in writing shall be made to or by the NWS 2012 Organising Committee whose decision shall be binding on all parties.

PROCESS FOR APPLICATION

1. All vacant roles will be passed onto the Regions to circulate and encourage Volunteers to submit applications. As well as this these roles will be uploaded onto VolunteerNet. Applicants will be required to fill out the official application form and return it to the NWS 2012 Organising Committee by Friday 27th July.

2. The NWS 2012 Organising Committee will appoint personnel to the event and notify them directly by Friday 3rd August.

3. Appointees confirm their acceptance and availability in writing to the NWS 2012 Organising Committee by Monday 13th August.

4. The NWS 2012 Organising Committee will communicate with appointed personnel on specific event information over months between appointment and the NWS 2012 beginning.

Job Descriptions

Area Job Description Field of Play  Management of the Field of Play (FOP), including access control, presentation and maintenance.  Ensure team benches are set up in accordance to the Netball World Series venue specifications.  Ensure water and ice requirements of teams & umpires are met both prior and during the matches.  Ensure teams are escorted from the pre-game entry zone to their team bench during the Arena call-on.  Ensure that post–game teams are escorted safely from the FOP to the changing rooms. Workforce Support  Work with the Workforce Manager to ensure each Manager knows their role  Aid in the resolution of any issues the Managers may have in the respective areas  Support workforce personnel in their roles when required Court Liaison  Liaise with the Field of Play (FOP) Manager, Ball Girls Manager and Team Managers.  Ensure water and ice requirements of teams are met prior, during and post competition.  Assist teams from the pre-game entry zone to team benches during the Arena call-on.  Ensuring teams are escorted to the post game team room and out of the venue where they will meet their Team Liaison / Driver of back to the court for another game Back of House  Cleaning and restocking changing rooms for teams between games  Assisting teams in the changing room area if they require it Administration  To assist the Game Managers in their role  Ensure the correct people receive the appropriate documentation throughout the games Ball Personnel  Retrieve any balls from outside the Field of Play and return to players or officials  Carry team bags on before Arena call-on if required

 Wipe court when required  Assist with any signage that has been moved / knocked over to return it to its original position as quickly as possible Team Liaison / Driver  Coordinate with the Court Liaison prior to the teams’ arrival at the venue.  Assist one team in their travel to and from Vector Arena, training venues and Official Functions  Answer any questions the teams have in regards to travel to and from the tournament venue and training venues  Communicate any change to the teams schedule with the team and their management Hotel Personnel  Be the main point of contact regarding hotel enquires  Be able to provide teams with relevant information in regards to the tournament venue, hotel facilities, other local facilities, functions, transport etc  To aid in the resolution of any problems / issues in a timely manner with minimal disruption to teams and officials  To liaise with hotel staff regarding any changes or requests from teams and officials Training Venue  To liaise with venues and teams with regards to changes Personnel to teams training times  To liaise with team management in regards to training requirements  To work with Teams Liaison / Driver Manager to ensure teams and officials have transportation to and from training venues  To aid in the resolution of any issues teams have with their trainings in a timely manner
