No entanto, apesar da profissionalização das várias entidades a operar neste meio e do aparecimento de novos investidores e patrocinadores, a abordagem da maioria das organizações é ainda, na sua larga maioria, semiprofissional ou mesmo amadora. Semelhante ao que outrora aconteceu com as organizações de desportos tradicionais, um dos aspetos fulcrais neste processo de formalização operacional é a vertente do Marketing e da Comunicação. Este trabalho de projeto tem precisamente como objetivo apresentar uma proposta de plano de comunicação para a organização profissional de desportos eletrónicos portuguesa Offset Esports. -

Tävlingsinriktat spelande (esport) håller på att formas till något bara få kunde tänka sig. E- sport (som förknippas med spelande) har också varit framgångsrikt på de olika fronterna i branschen. Den globala tilväxten inom e-sport och både nationell samt internationell framgång inom branschen har fått flera organisationer att investera i e-sport. Professionella sportorganisationer byggs upp på samma gång som tävlingar med allt större priser och synlighet väcker uppmärksamheten bland allmänheten. Dessutom har vissa skolor börjat stöda elever som vill rikta in sig på tävlingsinriktat spelande. Grail Quest är ett esport och LAN evenemang som ordnades för första gången 2017 i Gatorade Arena i Åbo 2018 i Kuppis bollhall. Organisatörerna vill med hjälp av evenemanget lyfta fram e-sporten och tävlingsinritkat spelande (videospel) bland allmänheten och nå nya potentiella kunder. Det huvudsakliga syftet med examensarbetet är att undersöka kundgruppen för att kartlägga en marknadsföringsstrategi åt följande Grail Quest -evenemanget som kommer att ordnas. I undersökningen ligger fokus på målgruppen e-sportentusiasiter. Arbetet går mer detaljerat in på hur man marknadsför evenemang. Det ser också på vad som krävs för att få ungdomar som tävlar i esport att bli intresserade att delta i ett e-sport och LAN- evenemang. -

DreamHack Masters to move online – $300,000 prize pool split across four regional competitions Confirmed Teams To Date Include Astralis, Ninjas in Pyjamas, ENCE, MIBR, 100 Thieves, TyLoo STOCKHOLM — DreamHack today announced that, due to the ongoing health and safety concerns in the world, and the interest of the safety and health of our players and staff, DreamHack Masters has been rescheduled and will move to an online format to fulfill our promise of bringing the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) community the world's best CS:GO action. DreamHack Masters Spring will be split into two time periods: May 19-30, with the group stage of the regional championships in Europe and North America running parallel, and the playoffs taking place June 8-14. The other two regional championships, Asia and Oceania, will also run simultaneously from June 2-7. The total prize pool of $300,000 will be split between the four regions as follow: $160,000 for Europe; $100,000 for North America; $20,000 for Asia; and $20,000 for Oceania. Each region will run qualifiers running between April 16-20. “We’re very excited to move to an online format for DreamHack Masters Spring,” said Michael Van Driel, Chief Product Officer at DreamHack. “While not being able to compete on LAN is unfortunate, we’ve developed a structure to support teams, players and fans around the world. To do this, the methodology developed by Geeraert and co-authors (2014) and AGGIS are combined to create a checklist of governance indicators for esport. Focusing on the relationship between game publishers, event organisers, and esport organisations, a sample of thirteen esports and eleven event organisers are investigated and eight interviews are conducted to obtain industry knowledge directly. Main findings are that esport is governed either by the game publisher, event organiser, or a combination of both, and that currently governance have a limited impact on esport. Master Degree Project in Management THE ROAD TO PROFESSIONALISM A qualitative study on the institutionalization of eSports Xen Chalmet Supervisor: Lars Walter Master Degree Project No. 2017:xx Graduate School The Road to Professionalism A qualitative study on the institutionalization of eSports Xen Chalmet Master of Science in Management, Graduate School School of Business, Economics & Law, University of Gothenburg Abstract ESports as an industry is a rapidly growing digital sport, with a multitude of different disciplines. While it is a vastly growing industry, it has as of yet seen limited academic attention. In this study, the development of one specific eSport is examined, namely Counter- Strike: Global Offensive. Institutional theory, in addition to institutional work theory, was utilized as a theoretical lens to understand how and why the eSport is developing. A qualitative approach was used towards this study, with the conduction of 15 interviews and a multitude of observations varying between events, community discussions and video work performed by spokespersons. The empirical findings were thereafter presented in a subject related manner through 5 different categories: (1) coaching, (2) rule adaptations, (3) unionization, (4) events and (5) community. The analysis of the data was done through the theoretical framework and two distinct forms of institutional work were identified: (1) establishment work aiming to increase the professionalism and legitimacy of eSports and (2) shielding work aiming at safeguarding the eSport and its’ community. Next to the identification of institutional work, neo-institutional trends were noticed in the form of isomorphism and decoupling within the Counter-Strike eSport (Meyer & Rowan, 1977; DiMaggio & Powell, 1983). -
