3 AMERICAN SPANIEL CLUB COVID GUIDELINES

The COVID 19 pandemic has resulted in changes in all of our lives, and dog shows are no different. Each of us involved in conformation shows and obedience trials is aware of the need to participate with the safety of all in mind. To provide exhibitors, judges, volunteers and all attendees with the safest atmosphere possible, the American Spaniel Club (ASC) will follow all city, state and facility requirements with- out exception. We will require all attendees to adhere to those requirements.

• The 2021 Flushing Spaniel Show is open to ASC and associated club members, exhibitors, and their guests; however, it is not open to the general public. An individual who is sick or feeling ill, may not attend. If you become ill at the event, you will be asked to leave the show site.

• Under order of the mayor of Knoxville, face masks which cover the nose and mouth are required to be worn at all times inside the Knoxville Convention Center. Face shields alone are not allowed under the City of Knoxville mask order. Masks may be removed for eating and drinking, but only for short periods of time. Anyone flagrantly violating this order by not wearing a mask will be told to leave the building, and may be subject to a bench show committee hearing.

• Under rules established by the Knoxville Convention Center:

○ COVID temperature checks and contact tracing ♦ Daily temperature checks are required of all attendees each day of the show weekend, including non-show days when exhibitors are unloading or loading. Anyone with a temperature over 100.4 will be denied entrance. ♦ Wristbands will be provided each day at the temperature check location. All attendees are required to wear the wristbands throughout the day. ♦ The Knoxville Convention Center requires information on each attendee for potential contact tracing. A waiver form with contact information is required of each attendee. The form should be turned in at the temperature check station on the first day of attendance. Once the form is turned in, a temperature check will be done, and a wristband will be provided.

○ Ringside seating ♦ Seating at ALL rings will be reserved at the cost of $30 per seat for the entire show. No personal chairs will be allowed. ♦ No ringside seating is to be moved without the express permission of the ASC Show Chairman or Seating Chairperson. ♦ Reserved ringside seating is allowed in approved clusters of 2-4 chairs for households and/or handlers and assistants working to- gether and sharing a grooming set up. Up to 4 persons sharing documented hotel rooms may also be seated together. The seating clusters will be approved and assigned prior to the show by the show committee. ♦ Signs will be affixed to the back of the chairs indicating the individu- als for whom the seating is reserved. The reserved seating assign- ments will be in effect for the entire show weekend.

4 American Spaniel Club, January 15-17, 2021 ○ Tack room set up ♦There are no restrictions on individuals sharing individual grooming spaces. ♦ Pipe and drape is required for three sides around each grooming set up. ♦ Ex-pen sides adjacent to drapes are to be covered in plastic to pre- vent damage to the drapes ♦ ONLY hand held hair dryers are allowed for use in grooming areas, by order of the city of Knoxville. ♦ The grooming area will be closed off from the main show area by facility installed floor to ceiling dividers.

○ Social distancing is required in all areas of the Knoxville Convention Center.

○ Hand sanitizer stations will be provided; however, attendees should be prepared to have their own supply.

○ To minimize hand-to-hand contact, please be prepared to purchase a show catalog with $20 cash. Basket raffles will not be permitted at this show in order to avoid exchange of currency. Silent auctions will be permitted.

• Ring set up ○ All rings will have separate entrances and exits.

○ Armbands will be laid out by stewards to be picked up by exhibitors. Exhibitors should confirm with stewards which armbands have been taken, absentees, move ups, etc.

○ Judges will pull and hand out the appropriate ribbons/rosettes for class place- ments with limited assistance by stewards

○ Trophy cards are to be used instead of having trophies presented in the ring

○ Hand sanitizers will be provided to judges and stewards for use throughout judging.

○ Social distancing is required outside the ring while waiting for a class, and inside the ring during judging.

• Official photographer set up ○ Social distancing is required

○ In an effort to reduce congestion and maintain social distancing, only the exhibitor and an assistant will be allowed in the waiting area along with any owners who are to be included in the photo.

The above rules are designed to provide each of us with a safe and fun experience as we celebrate all of our flushing , as we have for more than 100 years. Show committee members, as well as the officers and members of the ASC Board, will be available to answer any questions that may arise.

Because of the nature of the pandemic and the way in which local and state govern- ments are responding, the above rules are subject to change prior to the show weekend.

By working together, we can have a great weekend in Knoxville!

From the Board of Directors of the American Spaniel Club

American Spaniel Club welcomes all exhibitors. We want you to know that ASC is taking a proac- tive step to protect the health and well-being of the dogs entered in our show. ASC recommends that all exhibitors carry a proof of vaccination or titers and a proof of ownership for dogs attending this event. Exhibitors should follow their veterinarian’s recommendation to assure their dogs are few of internal and external parasites, any communicable diseases and have appropriate vaccina- tions. Please refresh your knowledge of AKC Rule and Regulations Chapter 11, Section 9 regarding sick dogs on the show grounds.

What Can You Do? We ask that if you have a sick dog or suspect a dog being contagious, please come forward immediately and let the Show Chairperson know so we can try keeping the illness confined. Remember we should be worried about the health of each of the dogs at the show site and the future of our sport. Please clean up after you dogs and use a parvocide.

ALL EXHIBITORS ARE TO USE PLASTIC AND SHAVINGS IN THEIR GROOMING AREA AND TO MAIN- TAIN CLEANLINESS IN THEIR AREA. ALL EX-PEN SIDES ADJACENT TO DRAPES ARE TO BE COVERED IN PLASTIC. NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR ALCOHOL ALLOWED IN THE EXHIBIT HALLS
