Spike Takes 'Return of The Masters' On Animated Adventure

11.28.2017

It takes a master to create a master. So states Spike's : Return of the Masters as the show comes back for its tenth season.

For the first time, the series welcomes back three winners to coach and mentor tattoo artists in their quest for $100,000, an editorial feature in Inked Magazine and the coveted title of Ink Master. Leading each team will be season two's Steve Tefft, season seven's Anthony Michaels and season nine's DJ Tambe, each of whom will be competing against each other to win another $100,000.

"I am ecstatic that we are bringing back Steve, Anthony and DJ to go head to head this season," said Chachi Senior, SVP, alternative programming and development, Paramount Network. "Their coaching styles, as well as their talent as artists is the perfect set up for an intense season 10."

The season will kick off with 24 potential contestants undertaking a series of tattoo-related challenges. From that initial pool, the three masters will select six artists to compete as part of their teams.

After each challenge, the contestants will face a tough panel of judges composed of musician, filmmaker and artist Dave Navarro, as well as world-renowned tattoo artists Chris Nuñez (Miami Ink) and Oliver Peck (Elm Street Tattoo).

The above promo-animation for which is provided by Shotopop-first features the masters as they gather their teams to face epic tattoo battles. As the promo unfolds, the masters evolve into the judges.

The new season debuts on Spike on January 9 and will continue to air on Tuesday nights when Spike rebrands as Paramount Network on January 18.
