Allowed just 4 home runs in 91.2 innings, averaging 0.39 home runs per 9.0 innings, which ranked eighth-best among all Major League hurlers with at least 75.0 innings. Made 14 starts to open the season before being placed on the Disabled List on June 21 with right shoulder tendinitis... MEDIA & MISC. DEV. Despite a 1-8 record in his 14 starts, posted a solid 4.40 ERA, allowing just 2 home runs in 86.0 innings...dropped his only decision and posted a 15.88 ERA in fi ve relief appearances. Went a career-high 8.0 innings in three straight starts from May 30 to June 9 becoming the fi rst Astros hurler since Roy Oswalt (2008) with three consecutive 8.0-plus inning starts. Equaled a club record by dropping his fi rst 7 decisions despite a 4.40 ERA in fi rst 10 starts...earned his lone win of the campaign on June 4 vs. Chicago (NL), allowing 1 run in 8.0 innings in a 3-1 win. Since he made his debut in 2007, his 2.94 runs of support average per 9.0 innings entering 2011 is the lowest in all of baseball among active pitchers with 200 or more innings and at least one start. After missing the entire 2008 campaign with the exception of 1 rehab appearance due to a pinched nerve in his right arm, returned in 2009 to strike out 93 in 97.2 innings over 23 games (17 starts)...the 93 strikeouts were the most by an Astros rookie since 2003 when Brad Lidge struck out 97 and Jeriome Robertson struck out 99.
