Press Release Liaison: Thomas Overbeck European Pocket Billiard Federation EPBF Press Officer Clercst. 2 Mobile: +49 (0) 151 23 555 139 6441 CT Brunssum Email: [email protected] Netherlands Press Release Ralf Souquet wins Dynamic Italian Open 2011 Nobody could stop him in 2011 yet Saturday, April 16, 2011: Ralf Souquet (GER) has won the Dynamic Italian Open 2011 Euro-Tour tournament in Treviso, Italy. He overcame Jayson Shaw (SCO) with 9:7 in the final. After Paris in February, this is already the second Euro-Tour stop that Souquet puts in his account. He seems to be unstoppable this year. Like the semi-final before, the final match seemed to be very single-sided in “The Kaiser’s” favour. He took a quick 5:0 lead and benefitted from unforced errors that Shaw has played. But then suddenly Shaw started to shift into overdrive. He snatched rack after rack, playing without any mistakes. Souquet had a hard time with his break and Shaw used his opportunities to even the match at 6:6. The arena which was packed with people turned silent. One could physically feel the tension. Everybody was curious whether Shaw could do the same to Souquet as he done to Melling in the match before. But there was still one man who had something against that: “The Kaiser” himself! At 6:6, Shaw played a bad safety shot and gave Souquet the chance to take a 7:6 lead. Then Shaw broke the balls. He had two balls down and a promising looking layout on the table when he missed the 2-ball. Souquet accepted the gift and ran out the next two racks and rightfully took the title of the Dynamic Italian Open 2011. Presseaussendung 21.03.2021 22:53, Andreas Kronlachner Predator Championship League Pool Österreichs Billard Stars Jasmin und Albin Ouschan freuen sich auf die Fortsetzung des internationalen Sport-Betriebs. Das Geschwister Duo erhielt einen Startplatz bei der Predator Championship League Pool, die vom 22. ? 29.

  • 2001 Bob Jewett
Bob Jewett Combinations and Throw Some surprising insights into the world of "throw." In my column last April, I covered some of the details of throw. Here are two related and surprising experiments for you to try. As a reminder, a ball is said to be "thrown" when its path is not directly away from the spot where another ball contacts it. This deviation can be due to spin on the cue ball, or simply from the motion of the striking ball across the struck ball on a cut shot. Most beginners will shoot the shot in Diagram 1 wrong. The two object balls are frozen together and pointed about six inches away from the pocket. A novice will attempt to "cut" the second ball by playing to side A of the balls, perhaps expecting the first ball to move to the right before pushing the second ball towards the pocket. Of course, we all know that you have to hit the shot on side B, and let the friction between the balls drag the second ball towards the pocket. But how does the shot change if the balls aren't touching? With some separation, as in Diagram 2, there will be two effects, the throw from the sur- face friction, and the cut because the first ball does move to the side before it hits the second ball. Which effect will dominate? If the balls are separated by a hair's breadth, the shot hasn't changed much and you would expect nearly the same result as for frozen balls.

The match started off to Melling’s liking. He was ahead 4:0 after about 10 minutes. Knowing Melling, this is not unusual. But Petroni did not think about giving in. “I was surprised when he fought back and got me under a lot of pressure”, said Melling. Petroni performed a strong comeback and tied the score at 4:4. Then Melling Chris Melling (GBR) Foto: EPBF/AMM ran another rack with his own break and benefitted from Petroni breaking dry, taking a 6:4 lead again. Once more, Petroni was down two racks and once more he did not give in but fought back. He profited from Melling who found himself unluckily snookered after he pocketed a tough jump shot. Running that rack and another one, Petroni tied the match at 6:6. He was almost on his way to the hill when the cue ball scratched into the side pocket from an almost unbelievable angle. Lady Luck was on Melling’s side this time. So Melling was on the hill first. But needless to say that Petroni again did not give in and tied the match at 7:7. Then, after a few safety shots were exchanged, Melling found himself in the better position and ran the rack, winning the thriller with 8:7.
