  • ASSESSMENT of the POTENTIAL ROLE of LIVE/WORK DEVELOPMENT in CENTERS
JULY 2004 ASSESSMENT of the POTENTIAL ROLE of LIVE/WORK DEVELOPMENT in CENTERS JULY 2004 ASSESSMENT of the POTENTIAL ROLE of LIVE/WORK DEVELOPMENT in CENTERS Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission Created in 1965, the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC) is an interstate, intercounty and intercity agency that provides continuing, comprehensive and coordinated planning to shape a vision for the future growth of the Delaware Valley region. The region includes Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties, as well as the City of Philadelphia in Pennsylvania and Burlington, Camden, Gloucester and Mercer counties in New Jersey. DVRPC provides technical assistance and services; conducts high priority studies that respond to the requests and demands of member state and local governments; fosters cooperation among various constituents to forge a consensus on diverse regional issues; determines and meets the needs of the private sector; and practices public outreach efforts to promote two-way communication and public awareness of regional issues and the Commission. Our logo is adapted from the official DVRPC seal and is designed as a stylized image of the Delaware Valley. The outer ring symbolizes the region as a whole, while the diagonal bar signifies the Delaware River. The two adjoining crescents represent the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the State of New Jersey. • Planning Committee
COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF MAUI PLANNING COMMITTEE November 6, 2015 Committee Report No. Honorable Chair and Members of the County Council County of Maui Wailuku, Maui, Hawaii Chair and Members: Your Planning Committee, having met on August 6, 2015, August 20, 2015, and September 24, 2015, makes reference to County Communication 15-66, from the Planning Director, transmitting a proposed bill entitled "A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 19.04, MAUI COUNTY CODE, RELATING TO GENERAL PROVISION AND DEFINITIONS." The purposes of the proposed bill are to establish within the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance a definition for "wet bar" and to limit the number of wet bars in dwelling units. A wet bar is an area within a dwelling unit that contains a small sink and limited refrigeration or small appliances for making beverages. Your Committee notes the Lanai, Maui, and Molokai planning commissions recommended approval of the proposed bill. The Planning Director informed your Committee the Department considers wet bars to be "kitchens" as defined in Section 19.04.040, Maui County Code. This interpretation has led to the denial of building permits for dwelling units containing both a kitchen and one or more wet bars because dwelling units are allowed only a single kitchen. Separately defining wet bars would enable the Administration to distinguish kitchens from wet bars when reviewing building permits. The Director further informed your Committee the proposed bill will help address the proliferation of illegal vacation rentals. Regulating the number of wet bars permitted in a dwelling unit will lessen the potential of a dwelling unit being converted into a vacation rental.

  • Student Housing Why Living on Campus Matters
Student housing Why living on campus matters St. Norbert is a residential college: Students live on campus all four years. There’s a lot to like about living on campus. First and foremost, it builds a sense of community and school spirit. Students live together, learn together, play together. They forge friendships, build trust and acquire an appreciation for shared experiences. Living together keeps people connected. And that has some benefits that may not be readily apparent: We have one of the best four-year graduation rates in the Midwest, and one of the best retention rates, too – and we’re pretty sure living in a supportive, cohesive community contributes to that. St. Norbert will be your home for four years. And we mean “home” in the very best sense: a place where you’ll feel comfortable, valued and surrounded by people who simply enjoy your company. You’ll be well-supported All first- and second-year residences have a live-in area coordinator, with a resident assistant on every floor, should you need assistance regarding campus resources, housing questions, security concerns or any other residential-related topics. Third- and fourth-year residences have a community assistant who supports these housing areas. Residential Education and Housing staff help with any residential- related topics. Options abound St. Norbert College has all kinds of housing, from traditional residence halls to theme houses to apartments and townhouses. Very generally speaking, you’ll experience increasingly independent living as you advance from your first year through your fourth year. Here’s a quick overview of our housing options, indicating which students have access to them.
