These will be used as proof of purchase when transferring the sheep into the new owner’s flock. ~2~ From 1st April 2019 the Texel Sheep Society has been providing performance recording services directly to our membership. AHDB-Signet introduced the new National Terminal Sire (NTS) Evaluation this year for all terminal sires breeds within the UK. The Society has agreed to support this new evaluation by providing Pedigree Texel data and so NTS forms the base evaluation for British Texel flocks. When looking at rams EBVs in the catalogue this year please remember that the introduction of the new evaluation has caused some changes to the indexes and figures from what they have been previously. •The Terminal Sire Index and Traits have now been rebased EBVs and indexes have been rebased to the average Texel animal in 2010. You will find that all animals index will have ‘fallen’ in number. With Top 10% animals having an index of 210 compared with the 361 it was before the change. •Meat traits are now based on a fixed weight rather than age Animals now have their muscle/fat EBVs predicted for a fixed carcass weight rather than at a fixed age. When buying a ram, buyers should use the breed benchmark to identify where an animals Estimated Breeding Values (EBVs) rank within the breed. The aim of EBVs are to allow buyers to see how much of an animal’s performance is due to its breeding (genetics) and how much has been influenced by the environment that they have been kept in – management, feeding, farm location, housing etc An animal will pass on half of its genetic merit to its offspring. eg, if Ram A has a Scan Weight of +3.33 then his progeny at scanning will be over 1.5kg heavier than average ~2~ British Texel Breed Benchmark 2019 Remember EBVs and indexes have been rebased and are now expressed relative to the average Texel sheep in 2010. Trait Average Top 25% Top 10% Terminal Sire Index Combines traits to allow breeders to select rams 150 182 210 who will breed more profitable slaughter lambs Scan Weight (kg) Breeding Potential for growth, measured at scanning 3.33 4.94 6.39 Rams with higher EBVs produce lambs that are heavier at time of ultrasound scanning Muscle Depth (mm) The amount of muscle present across the loin -0.07 0.37 0.76 at a fixed carcass weight. Can be used to asses overall lean meat yield. Fat Depth (mm) The amount of fat present on a carcass at a fixed weight. Negative values indicate animals -0.28 -0.06 0.13 who will produce leaner animals, Positive values indicate fatter carcases CT Gigot Muscularity (mm) 0.12 0.67 1.16 Breeding potential for gigot shape Litter Size 0.05 0.08 0.11 Number of lambs born to increase prolificacy Eight Week Weight (kg) 1.3 1.93 2.51 Breeding potential for growth to 8 weeks of age Maternal Ability The ewe’s maternal ability – Milk production -0.01 0.2 0.39 and maternal care – expressed by lambs performance to 8 weeks ~2~ INDEX Name Flock Prefix Lot Number ADAMS, JAMES BLAIR, KERRYHILL FARM, 144 KERRYHILL M55-56 SHELLINGHILL RD, GLARRYFORD, BALLYMENA, COUNTY ANTRIM, BT44 9HD. • Norris Families Residing in Maghera Parish, Derry County, Northern Ireland Between 1740-1859 Daniel E
Norris Families Residing in Maghera Parish, Derry County, Northern Ireland Between 1740-1859 Daniel E. Norris February 2007 Purpose: An overwhelming amount genealogical information exists for the Norris families emigrating from Derry County, Northern Ireland and settling in Western Pennsylvania. Well documented historical information pertaining to the six brothers of Robert Jr., Daniel, Adam, John, James and Henry Norris has been established. However, little is known about their father - Robert Norris Sr. Thus, the purpose of this research project is to discover additional information pertaining to the Robert Norris Sr. family and other Norris families who resided in Maghera Parish, Derry County, Northern Ireland between 1740 - 1859. Acknowledgments: This Norris family genealogical project, which began as a high school sociology class assignment in 1980, has been a work in progress for more than 25 years. I wish to thank Mr. William Riley, former Pine-Richland School District Teacher, Gibsonia, Pennsylvania (PA) for the introduction into genealogy. My grandparents, Joseph and Margaret Norris of Gibsonia, PA for providing me with much of the initial family information. Additional family researchers who have contributed information have included Dorothy (Dot) Voeckel of Tarentum, PA and Patricia Schnell, Tonasket, WA. Luck intervened as I was placed in contact with Richard Frew, a Derry County, Northern Ireland Genealogist, whose efforts made this project possible. His keen knowledge of historical documents, particularly church related records, and dedicated service produced or confirmed most of the following research. United States Documentation Pertaining to the Norris Family of Western Pennsylvania: 1 In order to progress further back into Norris family history, it was necessary to assemble as many “known” pieces of information as possible to be used as a basis.

  • Development Pressure Analysis
Mid Ulster Position Paper – Development Pressure Analysis September 2015 Prepared by Mid Ulster Environment and Conservation Development Plan Team. 1 Development Pressure Analysis of Mid Ulster Council Purpose: To provide members with a Development Pressure Analysis for Mid Ulster Council to identify those areas where significant development pressure has occurred and/or where local rural character is under threat. Content: The paper provides information on:- (i) The Development Pressure Analysis for Mid Ulster District and its key findings; (ii) Identifies the areas within the district where significant development pressure has occurred due to cumulative impact of one off single dwellings and also wind energy development; (iii) The development pressures in the context of the environmental designations and landscape character of the district. Recommendation: That the Planning Committee notes the contents of this paper in relation to development pressure within the Mid Ulster District. 1.0 Introduction 1.1 This Development Pressure Analysis is one of the 4 strands of the Countryside Assessment. Following on from the identification of environmental assets, settlement appraisals and landscape assessment, it seeks to identify those areas where significant development pressure has occurred and/or where local rural character is under threat of significant change. Development pressure analysis typically involves an assessment of the cumulative impact of one-off single dwellings in the countryside. Given the high number of wind energy applications in recent years and their potential visual impacts, Mid Ulster District Council has decided to widen the remit to also include an assessment of wind energy development. 1.2 It is acknowledged that other types of development, such as mineral excavation or industrial buildings, can also have potential adverse visual impacts.

DROMBOUGHIL COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION 1999-2019 A CELEBRATION OF OUR HISTORY AND HERITAGE FOREWORD Community is at the centre of any society and this publication, with the memories of community members of ‘by-gone days’, reminds us that this has always been the case. Dromboughil Community Association 1999- 2019: A Celebration of our History and Heritage preserves some of the history of Dromboughil, offering the reader an opportunity to learn a bit about the area. This is important as we should all know how the places we live have been shaped and formed; bearing in mind our past makes us what we are today and shapes our future. Dromboughil Community Association celebrates its twentieth anniversary this year and I wish to take this opportunity to thank the members for all the work they have done over the years to strengthen, develop and build good relations between and among all sections of the local community. Their dedication and hard-work is a credit to them and this publication also gives a brief insight into what they offer the local community.
