They will be holding meetings soon to make a determination on how they will proceed. Dixie National Forest: http://www.fs.fed.us/r4/dixie/index.shtml 1789 Wedgewood Lane Cedar City, UT 84720 (435) 865-3700 The Dixie NF is well underway with their Motorized Travel Plan. For the last two years they have been working on the route inventory, doing their route data collection and completion of inventory via Global Positioning System (GPS). Meetings with citizen’s work groups to review and make recommendations regarding evaluation questions and proposed process have also been completed. Public workshops to review and comment on inventory, evaluation questions and proposed process were completed in October 2004. Evaluation of all routes for potential route designation was completed in February 2006.

Review of proposed designations and management options by ranger districts, forest staff and cooperating agencies is now complete. Notice of Intent (NOI) - NEPA stage begins with release of a proposed action and public scoping. The is providing a 48-day comment period, which began on December 15, 2006. Written comments to be considered in the preparation of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) should be submitted by January 31, 2007.

Environmental analysis and development of alternatives is planned for winter 2006-2007 with the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) being released around June 2007. The final decision date is currently scheduled for September 2007.

Fishlake National Forest: http://www.fs.fed.us/r4/fishlake/ 115 E 900 N Richfield , UT 84701 (435) 896-9233 The has completed their Motorized Travel Plan and the Record of Decision was released December 13, 2006 and will be followed by a 45 day appeal window. Manti-LaSal National Forest: http://www.fs.fed.us/r4/mantilasal/ 599 W. Price River Dr. Price, UT 84501 (435) 637-2817 This forest is currently working with their existing travel map and their plan is to roll it over into the Vehicle Use Map for the Motorized Travel Plan which they are hoping to complete by the end of September 2007. There is a lot going on in this forest right now with the forest undergoing a Forest Plan Revision, and also they are required this year to do a National Visitor Use Monitoring Survey. Because these two items are taking a great deal of time, a lot of focus is taken away from completion of the travel plan. Bill Broadbear, Recreation Manager, said they will focus more on the travel plan starting in October 2006. Uinta National Forest: http://www.fs.fed.us/r4/uinta/ 88 West 100 North Provo, UT 84601 (801) 342-5100 The Uinta National Forest has a travel map in place and has completed their inventory of roads and trails. They are hoping to publish a new Travel Map by June 2007 and be finished with the Motorized Travel Plan at that time. They will be working with local user groups to add additional routes on a case by case basis. The forest is currently without a Forest Supervisor, and they are waiting for one before publishing a schedule for completing the plan. Wasatch-: http://www.fs.fed.us/r4/wcnf/ 125 South State Street , UT 84138 (801) 236-3400 This forest’s Travel Management Plan is being done on a ranger district level to help simplify the process. Except for Logan and Ogden Ranger Districts, who are now in the appeal process and waiting for the final outcome, all the other ranger districts have completed their Motorized Travel Plans.
