My capstone project Respia, placing International Runner Up in the James Dyson Award 2016, was about designing and enhancing the user experience of managing asthma. Respia engages the user with their condition and empowers them through accurate information about their medication usage and lung health, and battles the stigma around what it looks and feels like to manage asthma. In addition to my current role at Michael Crouch Innovation Centre, I am also tutoring subjects in Business Start Up, Entrepreneurship and Design, one example being IDES Studio 5 Complexity with Prof.Christian Tietz. I have had 3 years industry design and manufacturing experience; one of my positions was greatly working with manufacturing with metals, running and printing 3D multijet prints and carbon fibre molding. I am confident in working with 3D printers, laser cutters and industrial machines as I currently do at the MCIC at UNSW. In my portfolio you can see examples of my proficiency in complex surface modeling in programs such as Solidworks, Rhino and Creo and have experience working to ISO9001 and ISO13485. In my previous role at Doric Products, I was designing door handles and mechanical locking systems that house wafer/pin cylinders and dynamic lock bodies. I oversaw the CNC prototyping of an SS316 Patio D-Handle I designed, before choosing the best method of manufacture. This product was designed for Doric to refresh their place in the high end market of patio handles with a focus on high end styling inspired by Zaha Hadid. I am passionate about product research, design and development. During my studies at UNSW, I was working for two years as an Industrial Designer for Sunswift Solar Racing to design the interior space of the car. I was working with an interdisciplinary team of designers and engineers to complete the car in time for the esteemed 2015 World Solar Challenge (WSC) where we put our car to the test up against 42 other international teams. My particular role was to design the centre console and storage area. This role required ergonomic testing and studies, market research, styling exploration, 1:1 cardboard mockups for user testing, rapid prototyping, many iterations and advanced CAD. I saw through the whole design process including the final model making and installation of the console and storage area into the solar car. The result of our efforts saw a new benchmark for user interaction design in Sunswift and fourth place in the WSC Cruiser Class. I am confident that I would excel in this role because of my strengths; Online Portfolio http://designbykk.com I have strong research skills; I make it a priority to become an expert on Contact Details [email protected] the given design field and existing market to create an authentic solution; +61 404 966 741 I have a keen eye for detail and like to perfect every aspect of the design whether its functionality or aesthetic. My X Factor would be that I have started my own start up company from the success of my capstone project Respia.
