GEOLOGICAL MAP ENCLOSURE - l -

INTRODUCTION

During the period May 8th to May 18th/ inclusive a geological map covering claims EO-416390, EO-416391, EO-431146 ©and EO-431145 was prepared by the writer assisted by K. Klassen.

A series of traverses, 400© apart, were made across the area covered by the claims and all outcrops encoun tered were examined and mapped.

LOCATION

The claims are located in Lots 25 and 26, Concession VI of Barrie Township in Frontenac County about 55 miles northwest of Kingston.

The property can be reached by travelling north from Napanee on highway 41 for 42 miles then proceeding east wards for 4.5 miles on highway 506.

PREVIOUS WORK

The area in which the claims are situated has been previously mapped by Meen (Geology of Grimsthorpe - Barrie Area, O.D.M., Vd. 51, pt. 4) with later compilation by Hewitt (Madoc - Area, O.D.M., Geological Circular No, 12).

During 1965 Emrex Mining Limited carried out trenching and drilling on ground now included in claim EO-416390. Three holes totalling 431 feet were drilled and disseminated - 2 -

Cu-Zn-Pb mineralization was encountered in dolomitic marbles (Barrie Township Assessment File DDK #15).

Two additional holes were drilled in the same vici nity during 1968 by P.W. Kingston but no significant mineralization was intersected (Barrie Township Assessment File DDK #23).

The present owner of the claims is Mr. Henry Cook of 840 Ypres Blvd., Windsor/ Ontario. A geochemical soil survey was conducted over claim EO-416390, on his behalf, in 1975 by C.F. Gleeson and Associates; Pb, Zn, Cu and Ag contents of the soils were determined and several anomalous zones outlined. The report on this geochemical work has already been filed for assessment purposes.

GENERAL GEOLOGY; The area of the claims lies on the northern limb of an anticline (Hewitt, 1964). The rock types observed are mainly light, medium and dark grey marbles with varying amounts of calc-silicate veining. There are also some pink marbles and amphibolite dykes.

The mineral showing, which has been the focus of most of the drilling and trenching on the claims group, is located in the north central part of claim EO-416390. It consists of veinlets and disseminations of pyrite, galena, bornite, sphalerite and chalcopyrite in brecciated white to grey marble. The zone of mineralization is possible re lated to the presence of an amphibolite dyke which intrudes the marble at this location. However, no mineralization - 3 - has been observed along the contacts of other, similar, amphibolite dykes in the area.

DESCRIPTION OF ROCK TYPES

Grey Marble: This rock ranges from light to medium to dark grey in colour.

The light grey variety is fine grained and is dissected by veinlets of pink marble and of quartz. The medium and dark grey varieties are also fine grained and contain varying minor amounts of biotite and pyrite.

Pink Marble; This is a fine grained/ sugary rock with a conspicuous pink colour. Varying amounts of biotite are disseminated throughout the rock and it is frequently dissected by quartz veining.

Grey and Pink Marble Transition; Zones transitional between the two types described above are frequently observed and have been shown separately on the map. They consist either of grey marble veined by pink or of pink veined by grey.

Calc-silicate Veining in Grey Marble; Certain zones within the grey marble are dissected by numerous veinlets of calc- silicate minerals; these zones are shown on the geological map.

CONCLUSIONS

No significant mineralization was observed in the area - 4 - other than that already known on claim EO-416390.

The known mineralization appears to be related to a brecciated zone in the marble close to its contact with an amphibolite dyke. There is no geological evidence to suggest that the mineralization is likely to be of economic interest and no further work on the property is recommended.
