FREE HOUSE WELCOME to GLENFARG FOLK FEAST

Members and visitors at Glenfarg Village Folk Club are ~ 0/ rJle+? 1/i/6we $elk «Jlul used to a high standard of music and song throughout the year. When we start putting together a list of those we'd like to invite to the Folk Feast we therefore tend to look at those who and of iI~ ~ $ea61 have impressed us most in the preceding year. Some people impress us every year but we resist the temptation to have them at every Feast - an outstanding example would be lain Mackintosh. vUI m-ea/4 dei1HJd letl 9/un This year's guest list includes several established tY1 la coMe dinnet -menu' favourites in Amos and Rocks, Brian Miller and Charlie Soane, Tich Frier and "An Teallach." It also includes two new trios in " Yard" and "Tapselteerie" many of whose personnel are weel kent faces. Ian Walker has a growing reputation as singer and songwriter and has been welcomed warmly to Glenfarg several times recently. We also have a visit from the Penicuik Punch and Judy who will be playing both the traditional version for the childrens concert and a new adult version which receives its World Premiere during the Saturday evening Concert.

Last year we had the first World Puff-a-box Championship sponsored by Bryant and May. The reigning World Champion, Brian Miller, will be defending his title but we've had to move it to .,~.~ bigger premises in case he has been practising too hard. We also have, this year, the inaugural competition for the "Dreich Quaich" dedicated to the singing of un-joyous songl!l. !l!oIJ lewd in the &;Ut~. 9'~ - f!iJiI/ and ~ie rJ)ar;id4on Contact phone numbers for details of the Feast and the Club ~~-Cfj~ Stuart Martin Bo'ness (0506) 823831 Doris Rougvie (073883) 698 (05773)47~ Mhairi Moffat Burntisland (0592) 872143

They've spent most of March in England so they will get a warm and enthusiastic welcome back to Scotland and Glenfarg. BRIAN MILLER and CHARLIE SOANE The~~~ a6ifJor This highly-respected pair of musicians combine power, pace and control better than most playing in Scotland today. Charlie's mercurial left elbow contrast with his dead pan face while he .Ma~dret or Ana~. plays his fiddle. Brian's boisterous personality doesn't get in the way of epic ballad-singing as well as the playing which must or make him Scotland's most frequent recording session guitarist.
