2. RHSAA President’s Report – Lance Ford 1. Welcome and thank you for your involvement with the RHSAA. 2. Fall sports are underway. 3. SHSAA AGM • A big thank you to the delegates who attended. • Congratulations to Angela Mallory who will be the Women’s Representative at the SHSAA table for the next two years. • Eugene Arcand did an amazing presentation on Truth and Reconciliation. • Highlights from the AGM Resolution package. a) Football teams must classify by April 15. All other sports are September 30 of the current school year. b) Tournament Fee increase for wrestling is $25.00 per wrestler. c) Volleyball - piercings are now allowed to be taped or replaced with unobtrusive plastic retainer. d) District membership fee will be increased in the 2020-2021 school year to $175.00 plus $50.00 per 500 students who are enrolled in grades ten through twelve in that district. e) Team Fees will increase in 2020-2021 school year up from $40.00 to $42.50 per team entered. f) 50-50 fundraisers or other raffles can now be sold at all SHSAA events to help with escalating costs to run programs. g) Basketball: i. The maximum number of non-player personnel allowed on the bench is four. ii. Leg compression sleeves may now be of any length. iii. Regional Basketball games for 1A-4A start at 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM. h) Wrestling - see 19/07/02 of the Resolution package. i) Curling - mixed teams may be made up of a maximum of three girls and three boys, but they may not play during any game with fewer than two girls and two boys. j) Volleyball - Regina resolution passed. When the 5A Provincial is held in the south, there will be 3 representatives from Regina and South Rural.

k) Football - see 19/10/01 of the Resolution package. Outside the “closed line play area”, it is illegal to block below the waist. l) Soccer - In the 2020-2021 school year a four-team provincial championship will be conducted in all classifications. One Regina rep will go in 5A, one Regina rep may go in 4A if they qualify out of their Regional Playoffs.

Email contact for school and coaches is critical (use semi-colon to separate multiple email addresses) iii. E-3 Team Registration (September 11) – invoice will be sent on October 1 from office 1. Adding/deleting teams after September 11 must contact SHSAA office iv. E-5 Eligibility for fall activities due date is September 18, or prior to first competition whichever comes first 1. Remember that an E-5 needs to be completed for any team that is participating in competition (regular, season, exhibition, tournament, playoff, etc.). There is an option when registering the team to indicate the intent to participate in SHSAA playoffs. A school should register a school representative team before selecting any other Grade 9 - 12 options (Junior Varsity, Blue, Green, "B", Developmental, etc.) 2. In schools where multiple teams exist in a specific gender activity but there is no option to select multiple teams, all students in grades 9-12 that will be representing the school should be listed on the one E-5 created for that activity. 3. If a school is utilizing a home school or distance learning student, the student must be correctly entered into the school's exnet database and form E-18 must be completed and submitted to the SHSAA office. 4. Team and coach information a. Intent to participate in playoffs b. Joint sponsorships – only those that have been approved by SHSAA 5. Players listed – everyone who tried out and/or is representing the school a. The team roster is completed by selecting students from the database that exists for your school. If a student does not appear, they can be added using the options shown at the bottom of the eligibility form. i. Student Learning Number is now mandatory b. If an attempt to enter a student is not accepted, please contact the SHSAA office as this would indicate an eligibility or transfer issue.

i. Appeals on rulings by Executive Director are dealt with at Executive meetings (September, December, January, April, May, June) c. E-5 can be edited later but there is a minimum number needed – list appears at the bottom of the page when you first log in v. E-10 School Enrolment Declaration (September 30) – Very Important information for final classification 1. Save button only available from September 30 - October 2 vi. E-15 Officials Registry – (September 20) – District Officials Commissioners will be working with SHSAA office to have an excel database created for each District. SHSAA Report – Kelly Adams 1. Submit your eligibility into the E5 a.s.a.p. You are able to add players later on. There is a $50.00 fine if you are late in submitting. 2. Transfer Forms – if you have any new students you must submit a transfer form to the SHSAA as soon as possible. 3. CIAAA - Promote in your school the opportunities for Coaches, Teachers and Athletes conferences, Officials Conference and Women in Sports Conference. 4. Schools Sports Week is in October.

4. Commissioner’s Report – Aaron Anderson • The Financial report for September 2018 to August 2019 is attached. Aaron reviewed the financial report with council members. • Hockey Fees will remain at their current $2500 per team this year. We are paying $178.00 for 1.5 hours of ice. • Volleyball and Basketball Fees may need to be adjusted somewhat due to changes in our league structures. Aaron will monitor officials costs carefully and will let you know breakdowns after all leagues conclude. • Coaches Directories – please email them to Stella as they were due today! • RHSAA School Team Fees - please have these paid by Friday, October 18, 2019.

a) Football: • Headsets – Kelly Adams, Dylan Hart and Ryan Giesbrecht tested out the new headsets in the Spring and by the sounds of it, we finally have something that is going to work in Mosaic. • Chain Gang – Miller has provided 3 workers for Leibel Field and 2 workers to help at Mosaic. There were consistency issues last year as well as the RFOA expressing some concerns with our chain gang behavior and leaving games before they were complete. So far so good! • Regular Season Tickets – prices are as follows: $20 Season Ticket Books (6 tickets in a book = $3.33 per ticket.) Box Office Game Day Tickets – Adults $7.00, Students Gr. 7-12 $6.00, Students Gr. 6 and under $3.00. • Playoff Tickets – new this year. We will have books of playoff tickets made up and they will be given to the head coach during their October 2nd and 3rd games. has the bye that week, but we will get them to you. Presale playoff ticket money will have to be kept separately from our league money. Unsold regular season and playoff tickets as well as the money will need to be returned with separate cheques (one for regular season, one for the playoffs) by Thursday, November 7, 2019. • *Regular Season Tickets and a cheque for the number of books you sold x $20 per book. Please make out the cheque to Kiwanis Club of Regina-Wascana Inc. • *Playoff Tickets – when selling these in your school, the prices are as follows: Adults $7.00, Students Gr. 7-12 $6.00, Students Gr. 6 & under $3.00. Please do not sell as a pack of 6 for $20.00, but rather individually at the prices above. b) Cross Country: • Coaches Meeting was held on Thursday, August 29 at 4:15 p.m. in the Tower at the Canada Games Event Complex at Douglas Park • Athlete walk through with Dwight and Barry Kaytor as well as our Coaches was on Thursday, September 5 at 4:15 p.m. • There will be a Recreational Division this year. The goal is to increase participation numbers. • Four meets will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 17, 24 and October 1. • The Provincial Championships are on Saturday, October 12, 2019 in Prince Albert at Prime Ministers Park, adjacent to Carlton High School. Hotels have been booked in Prince Albert at the Super 8 on Friday, October 11. The bus will back in Regina after the competition is held on Saturday. c) Soccer: • 4A City Finals – Wednesday, October 16 - Boys 5:00 p.m., Girls 7:00 p.m. • 5A City Finals – Friday, October 18 - Boys 5:00 p.m., Girls 7:00 p.m. Both nights are at the Affinity Plex. • The standard 50% rental rate reduction has been agreed upon 2019 but will need to be negotiated by all School Boards and RHSAA for 2020 and beyond. • 2019 Provincial Soccer Championships (October 25 & 26, 2019) 4A Girls – Yorkton – bus will leave on Thursday, October 24 after school. 4A Boys – Moose Jaw (no hotels have been booked as the bus will drive the students there and back on both days - mornings of October 25 & 26) 5A Girls – Thursday, October 25 & 26. Lloydminster will not be hosting due to no girls’ team. Open to 4A and 5A for bid to host. 5A Boys – Swift Current – bus will leave on Thursday, October 24 after school

d) Volleyball: • City Championship Dates and Venues are set: ➢ Jr. Boys Tier 2 @ 5:45, Jr. Girls Tier 2 @ 7:00 and Sr. Girls Tier 2 @ 8:15 at ➢ Jr. Boys Tier 1 @ 6:00 and Jr. Girls Tier 1 @ 7:15 at Riffel Catholic High School ➢ Sr. Boys Tier 1 @ 6:00 and Sr. Girls Tier 1 @ 7:15 at Luther College High School • Regina District hosts the 2019 5A Boys Provincials on Friday, November 15 and Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Winston Knoll Collegiate and Riffel Catholic High School. Curtis Lothian will be the lead coordinator. Aaron Anderson is looking after bleachers transportation and assisting with the program. Lance Ford, Armand Jeannot and Cymone Bernauer will also assist. • Volleyball Provincial Championship Hosts: 5A Girls – November 15 & 16, 2019 in Weyburn 4A Boys – November 22 & 23, 2019 in North Battleford 4A Girls – November 15 & 16, 2019 in Fort Qu’Appelle • Pre-season Tournaments were held on Saturday, September 7. Winston Knoll Collegiate hosted boys and hosted Girls e) Hockey: • If schools wish to book exhibition games and/or extra practices, it will no longer be done through the Commissioner’s office. We will follow the same rural exhibition soccer, volleyball and basketball procedures in order to keep it consistent, where the school(s) involved will book ice through the City of Regina and officials through Hockey Regina. Aaron has the contacts if schools wish to pursue this. f) Basketball: • HOOPLA 2020 (March 19, 20 & 21) – Provincial Championships are in Regina this year. The main gym in the Kinesiology Building and the ‘old’ main gym have been booked as 2 of 4 floors needed to host by the SHSAA. LeBoldus Catholic High School and Miller Comprehensive Catholic High School have agreed to be our other two host schools • Winston Knoll Collegiate and Sheldon-Williams Collegiate have been asked to serve as ‘host’ schools at the two U of R gyms. Winston Knoll Collegiate will host the main gym, Sheldon-Williams Collegiate will host the old gym. • Four meetings with our host schools will take place at Campbell Collegiate at 4:00 p.m. in the conference room across from the main office on the following dates: 1. Wednesday, December 11, 2019 2. Wednesday, January 15, 2020 3. Wednesday, February 12, 2020 4. Wednesday, March 4, 2020 g) Wrestling: • We have done away with the 9 Quad Meets we held in previous years and have added 3 more Pool Series to our schedule bringing us to 5 in total. Aaron will be getting five schools to volunteer to host at his Coaches Meeting on Tuesday, October 8 at Campbell Collegiate at 6:30. • A Dual Championship Series has also been added on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at . The Top 4 Male and Top 4 Female teams/schools will compete in each category. Coaches poll from our 5 Pool Series and Tournaments to decide. • At the October Coaches Meeting, we will need to decide how to record league standings if at all. • City Wrestling is at O’Neill Catholic High School on Friday, February 28 and Saturday, February 29, 2020 • Provincial Wrestling is in Saskatoon at Mount Royal on March 6 & 7, 2020

h) Curling: • The Callie Curling Club has been booked to host a 48 team Bonspiel on Friday, January 31 and Saturday, February 1, 2020. All RHSAA teams will be invited. It will include 24 Sr. teams and 24 Jr. teams with an entry deadline of Friday, November 29, 2019. After that, if we need to fill spots, it will be open and sent out province wide. Entry fee will be $75-100 per rink to cover costs of ice rental and medals (gold and silver). • The Highland Curling Club will be booked on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 for the Recreational curlers Wind-up/Bonspiel. It will likely be a mini-game format (perhaps each team will get 2 games of 3-4 ends each) and then we will have the rink supply burgers and fries for each student/coach. Something fun. • Regional Curling: February 28 & 29 Girls –Moosomin Boys & Mixed –Whitewood • Provincial Curling: March 6 & 7 Girls – Allen, Boys – Meadow Lake, Mixed – Spiritwood i) Badminton: • City Finals – scheduled for Saturday, April. 25, 2020 at Luther College High School & Martin Collegiate. • Regionals – Saturday, May 2, 2020 in Notre Dame • Provincials – Saturday, May 9, 2020 in Nipawin j) Track and Field: • City Finals: Tuesday, May 26 and Wednesday, May 27 – 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. both days. Rain Day is Thursday, May 28 • Provincial Finals: Friday, June 4 and Saturday, June 5 in Yorkton. Two buses are booked each day. Hotels have been booked, but there is a major shortage of rooms. • Awards/Medal Presentations – Thursday, May 28 at Miller Comprehensive Catholic High School at 4:15 in the Auditorium. A Coaches Meeting will be held after the ceremony to confirm the Provincial Team traveling to Yorkton on June 4 & 5. k) Golf: • Provincial Championships are in Estevan on Friday, September 27 and Saturday, September 28 at the Woodlawn Golf and Country Club. There will be two boys and two girls going to represent the RHSAA. Rooms are booked at the Suburban Extended Stay Hotel. • Boys team – Hunter Kutcher – Riffel Catholic High School & Aidan Shanks – Campbell Collegiate. • Girls team – Autumn Neiszner – Campbell Collegiate & Alexia Gosselin – Campbell Collegiate. • Two coaches, Alf Trudelle of Riffel Catholic High School as well as Darryl Busierre and Samantha Taylor of Campbell Collegiate will take their own vehicles and transport the four players to Estevan. This is cheaper than renting a van.

5. Information Items: • RHSAA Promo Video – Derek Meyers produced a video for the RHSAA last year which is now available on our website, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. • RHSAA Roster Make-up and Developmental Teams – please see the attached final document, which is in effect for the 2019-20 season and was sent out to all principals, athletic directors and Fall sports coaches.

• Tournaments Rules & Travel Policy – please see the attached final document, which is in effect for 2019-20 and was sent out to all principals, athletic directors and Fall sports coaches. • RHSAA Executive – Jason Coleman is now the Superintendent replacing Darren Boldt who filled in extremely well last year.

6. Discussion Items: • Len Williams Coaching Legacy – scholarship of $1000 to be used in the development of young coaches. Thoughts on how to best select one candidate to go to a conference somewhere in North America. Suggestions: 1. Bring in a person to organize proper structure in practices. 2. Select a person who is committed and dedicated to High School Sport who will continue with coaching. Thoughts were a coach with 5-8 years of experience. 3. Use the Scholarship to attend a conference. 4. Bring in guest speakers or experienced coaches to rotate through the sports. • Aaron will put these ideas on the Executive Council Agenda for discussion.
