Sorry boys, this one is just for the girls. Join with your best girlfriends to make the league more enjoyable. Averages range from 120 to 215. Split season gives more teams a chance to win. Bowl 33 weeks The Men’s Merchants is the longest running league at Strike & Spare. Come bowl in a friendly yet competitive league. Averages range from 130 to 230. Thursday - Ladies Major Starts August 20th. Practice starts at 6:00pm. $13 per person weekly. 7 points per day. 3 person teams (ladies only). Handicap is 80% times difference from 200. Bowl 28 weeks These ladies will make you feel right at home! This fast pace league is perfect for anyone new to bowling or league regulars. Perfect for ladies wanting to bowl early and not stay late. Points will be continuous throughout the year. Friday - Party Animals Starts August 21st. Practice starts at 10:00am. $14 per person weekly. 7 points per night 4 person mixed teams (must have 2 men and 2 women on each team). Handicap is 90% times difference from 210. Bowl 33 weeks Start your weekend off right! This league is for everyone. The friendly people in this league will make you feel right at home with the fun music playing atmosphere! This league is perfect for anyone new to bowling or league regulars. Enjoy end of the year fun night and banquet. League is split into two halves giving more teams an opportunity to win. Saturday -Youth Starts August 29th. Practice starts at 10:00am. $10 per person weekly. 4 points per day. 2 person mixed teams (all boys, girls or mixed). Handicap is 100% based off an average of 200. Bowl 32 weeks This league is for kids ages 6 - 20. Youth bowling provides unique opportunities for coaching and instruction, fun and friendly competition, fair play, teamwork, leadership development and lifelong friendships. A maximum of two deliveries is made in each frame except in the 10th frame, when three deliveries are made if the player has scored a strike or a spare in that frame. X Strike A strike is scored when all the pins are knocked down by the first ball rolled in a frame. It is marked with an X. Because a strike earns 10 pins plus a bonus of all the pins knocked down by the next two balls, no figure is entered until the next two balls are rolled. A strike in the 10th frame earns two extra rolls. Spare / A spare is scored when all pins are knocked down with two deliveries.

Bowlers, Welcome back from summer to the start of the 2009 œ 2010 bowling season. Some of you have kept in practice this summer, but many of you have not picked up a ball since spring. Even if you took the summer off, your Association did not rest. Many changes have taken effect for the new season. First of all, the Virginia State Bowling Association, Women‘s Bowling Association, and Youth Associations merged to form the Virginia State USBC. The women who paid an extra $1 to join the State BA last year no longer need to do so and will be able to bowl in both state and local tournaments. USBC made many changes to the awards program. The 11-in-a-row plague is now a trophy. Game and series achievement award patches will now be magnets and average requirements were changed to make them more meaningful. The 7-10, big four, triplicate, all spare game, and Dutch 200 game awards have been discontinued. USBC felt these accomplishments were not based on skill. The good news is local GFUSBC awards and criteria have not changed. GFUSBC held a league secretaries/presidents workshop at the beginning of August to review these changes; but sadly, less than half of the leagues were represented. In most cases, secretaries get paid at least 50 cents/person/night to perform their duties.
