30+ students with high scores on the AP1 candidate index are invited to take the AP Physics 1 placement test.

Students who demonstrate proficiency on this test will be enrolled in AP Physics 1. The 2014 AP Physics 1 Placement Test o Will take place during the school day in mid-May at FMS. o Will test Algebra skills and mathematical reasoning skills that are necessary for success in AP Physics 1. o Will include free-response questions – students are required to “show the work and reasoning”. o Grade 9 physics teachers will score the test. What if the student does not qualify? o The student can be enrolled in Honors Physics for grade 9 and may take AP Physics 1 as an elective in grade 10, 11, or 12. Honors vs. AP Physics 1
