All members that are struck due to non-payment of fees will have their CUG status immediately cancelled without further notice, thereby denying further access into the CUG section of the website. This will only be reinstated in the event of that the member has settled all outstanding debts, paid the necessary penalty fees and had the membership satisfactorily reinstated. NEW CHAPTER BRANCH IN THE UAE Members will recall that they were advised last year that the ASAQS Board had resolved and agreed that due to popular demand, a new Chapter branch of the ASAQS should be established in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the official seat of which was to be situated in Dubai. In order to kick-start the process, the President of the ASAQS, Professor Rob Pearl, visited Dubai on Thursday 12 March 2009 and made himself available to spend the day in Dubai to meet with as many of the ASAQS members as possible for a preliminary meeting to discuss and investigate the possibilities and practicalities of establishing the UAE Chapter of the ASAQS. On his return, the President reported on his meeting with the members and his report is available on the ASAQS website. SKILLS MODULES TO REPLACE COUNCIL EXAMS Starting on 1 January 2013, all NEW Candidates who apply for registration - on or after 1 January 2013 - in terms of the Quantity Surveying Profession Act 2000 (Act No 49 of 2000) will be admitted to Interviews for Assessment of their Professional Competence only if they produce certificates to prove that they have successfully completed all the prescribed SACQSP Professional Skills Modules during their post-qualification terms as employed, supervised, mentored, Candidates.
