Route 7 – via

START/FINISH: Squires Garden Centre, TW17 8SG Distance: 10 miles

1 With the Garden Centre on your left go along Halliford Road to turn left at the junction with Gaston Bridge Road. 2 At the dual-carriageway (A244) turn left and follow the cycle lane to the roundabout. Take the first exit, continuing ahead on the cycle lane for 400m to just before the next roundabout. Turn onto the shared footpath and continue to the road junction. Cross Fordbridge Road to the segregated path opposite. 3 Follow this path for 550m to . Continue over the bridge and at the end of the railings, turn left on the cycle way to pass back under the bridge. Cross to the riverside path. 4 Turn left to follow the path for 2.2km with the river on your right, passing under two bridges and the foot and bicycle ferry to reach a small car park off the bend in Walton Lane (this section of the route can be muddy and following Walton Lane from Walton Bridge is an option). 5 Turn right on Walton Lane to pass The Minnow PH on your left and turn right at the stone columns into Portmore Park Road. Continue along this road for 1km ignoring all turnings until 20m before the roundabout. Cross to the path on the right hand side and walk to the roundabout to join the shared cycle path going right. 6 Follow the narrow shared cycle path with care and go over the bridge and cross the road to Hamm Court. Continue on the segregated cycle way for a further 950m until the roundabout with St. George’s College on your right. 7 Cross the access road to continue ahead on the cycleway up over Woburn Hill. Follow the red brick wall on your right and when it ends, turn right, immediately before the fire station. 8 Take the cycle path to the right of the entrance to Philip Southcote School and follow the path through a barrier, over a footbridge to continue ahead on tarmac to Mead Lane. 9 Turn left on the shared cycle path opposite and then right between fences. On reaching the road, turn left on Bridge Wharf and just before Bridge Road turn right to reach the . Follow the riverside path to pass under and then swing left up to the road. 10 Turn left over Chertsey Bridge and continue ahead on the Chertsey Bridge Road cycle lane for 500m until the next roundabout. Take the second exit continuing for 700m, initially on the road and later the cycle path, to stop opposite the post box. 11 Cross into Docket Eddy Lane on the right and continue along this road to the River Thames. At the river turn left along the Towpath (a one way road until The Thames Court PH) to reach after a further 1300m. Continue ahead to go around the bend with Nauticalia on the left into Ferry Lane. Continue ahead, soon taking the cycle way on the left, to reach the T-junction with Chertsey Road. 12 Turn right along Chertsey Road to pass Ferry Square, with St. Nicholas Church, on your right and continue a further 500m on Church Road to reach the roundabout with the war memorial in the middle. 13 Go round the roundabout to take the third exit (Russell Road) and continue for 650m to the mini roundabout. Continue ahead to take the second turning on the left (Gordon Drive, becoming Gordon Road). 14 Follow the road round to the right, soon with the grass area on your right, to later bend left. Continue for a further 150m on the service road before forking left into Western Drive. Continue, soon bearing right, to the T-junction with Green Lane. 15 Cross Green Lane and turn right on the service road in front of the shops. Continue along the service road and follow it left at the end. Where the service road meets Gaston Bridge Road take the cycle way on the left. 16 Continue on the cycle lane to the side of the dual carriageway up to the traffi c lights. At the lights turn right across the dual carriageway and double back to go down the road now on your left. Pass The Goat PH on your right to turn right at the road and then turn left into Halliford Road. Arrive at the Garden Centre on your right.
