Project Summary: This project aims to build up a “Well” in the centre of Kam Tin and Pat Heung that can serve as a gathering point for the residents. The Well will bolster social capital building among residents from different backgrounds and cultures so that communication and mutual understanding could be enhanced, and this will help nurture a reciprocal and mutual help relationship. Through cohering various characteristics of the community and motivating the residents to have a better understanding of their own community, the residents will feel more strongly being a member of the community. The project also establishes integration networks among people from different social classes and ethnics, and cultivates their sense of belonging towards the community that can help build a mutual trust relationship. In the meantime, a cross-sectoral collaboration platform will also be formed for promoting community integration and harmony, thereby contributing to the development of structural social capital.

Programmes include: 1. “Well Ambassador”: to train up core volunteers to carry out the community listening campaign, form the “Well” gathering platform and organise multi-cultural connection programmes so as to facilitate cohesion among residents from different backgrounds and enhance their sense of belonging to the community. 2. “Well” tour co-operative: to organise Kam Tin x Pat Heung guided tours by utilising and sharing the village culture and characteristics for building an integration platform among people from different social classes and ethnics. 3. Cross-sectoral collaboration platform: to link up different stakeholders in the project, enhance their participation and collaboration, and strengthen the mutual help and resource-sharing network in the district through the Kam Tin x Pat Heung cross-sectoral electronic community platform and the “Well” news express. 4. “Village relationship” video competition: to promote understanding and experiencing of the village culture among residents so that they feel being a member of the community.
