The teams with 10 coaches left Temple Hill at 8.30am with the Underage Director of Rugby and Underage Secretary, and parents on 3 buses.

It was a great day for all concerned, especially when the Cork Con seniors finished the day with a marvellous win that keeps them on top of the AIL. The return journey was full of good laughs with the players singing and recounting stories from the day which will be something they will always remember. Well done to all.

Tracey hoped that his decision to bolster his side by selecting Kenny Murphy and David Corkery with 38 full Irish Caps between them would pay off. From the start Con played heads up rugby and put plenty of pace on the ball to score 5 tries before the visitors got their first try. This galvanized the Con side into action scoring 4 more tries before fittingly the KwaZulu scored the last two tries of the game. The match was played in a very sporting spirit with referee Eoin O’Neill having little influence on the outcome as penalties and conversions were not kicked. KwaZulu Old Crocs is an over-40’s rugby club founded in San Diego, California in 2004. The core of their team comprised people who grew up and played their rugby in the Durban area of what is now called KwaZulu Natal – hence their name. The tour party travelled from Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, USA, and the UK, as well as South Africa. Following their game in Templehill , the tour party gingerly travelled to Galway for Arthur’s Day and finished up with a game against Mary’s in Dublin.

Rolling subs were used and as some wit on the side line commented “a good job too otherwise the game would never have finished”.

Con U11s 'South Africa' side played against a Boyne RFC U11 selection on Saturday afternoon. In their first match the boys were a little sluggish after the long bus journey and unfortu- nately had to go straight into a game with no preparation time. Despite this they acquitted themselves very well. They were beaten on a score line of 2 - 1 but it is fair to say that had the game continued for another few minutes they would certainly have equalized. Rory O'Neill did very well at second row, Jacob Farrell tackled well and Jordan Conway was always a threat with ball in hand. Con's only try came from Josh Clarke who beat several defenders before scoring in the corner.

Cork Con-Argentina V Old Belvedere Score: Old Belvedere 1 / Cork Con 2

After the demands of the Boyne match Con Argentina had little time to catch their breath. The home team and favorites, Old Belvedere, were waiting to challenge Con U11s. This game was played on a much larger pitch than the first match which resulted in a much more open and free running game. Whereas the front five had to do all the hard work in the first match the backs had to roll up their sleeves in this open free flow- ing game. The fact that Con limited Old Belvedere to one try tells the story of hard tackling and commitment by all the Con team. The hard work and graft took its toll on the opposition and Con created two fantastic moves to carve open the 'Belvo' defense and put Michael Shee- han in for two tremendous tries. At the final whistle the Con lads fell to the ground in exhaustion but thrilled at yet another win on the road for this ever improving team that is gelling well together.
