APPROVE INDIANA HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL COACHES ASSOCIATION PROPOSALS Assistant Commissioner Phil Gardner reviewed the proposals presented by the Indiana Baseball Coaches Association. 1. Change IHSAA By‐Law 15‐2.5b(4) to read “the coaching staff may offer instruction and work directly with a maximum of five athletes at a time…” A motion for approval was made by Paul Neidig; seconded by Jimmie Howell; motion defeated 0‐17. 2. Adopt the optional use of a courtesy runner for the pitcher and catcher during all authorized IHSAA baseball contests, including the state tournament. A motion for approval was made by Mike Broughton; seconded by Steve Cox; motion approved 16‐1, with Jimmie Howell dissenting. 3. Change the start date of the baseball season (Authorized Practices) to align with softball. For the 2014‐15 IHSAA calendar year this would be M‐Wk. 36 for Authorized Practices; however, baseball would remain at M‐Wk. 39 for the start of Authorized Season Contests. Geoff Penrod made a motion to approve the proposal; seconded by Don Gandy; motion defeated 0‐17.
