LONGMORN IS THE ULTIMATE LUXURY SINGLE MALT

The late 19th century saw adventure, ambition and craft meld with new technologies, and one of the great personalities of the Victorian industry, a Scot called John Duff , who embraced the philosophy of intelligent luxury. Born in a golden era when whisky appreciation was reaching new heights, Longmorn’s craftsmanship and indulgence epitomised the era’s new levels of refi nement. A true luxury off ering, each bottle of Longmorn has been crafted and matured to perfection.

With over 20 years’ experience in distillery design and management, Duff saw the benefi ts of combining craft production and advances in technology to begin building the Longmorn Distillery in 1893, to cater for the growing luxury appetite – a tradition that continues today.

From 1894 and onwards, the spirit was revered and Duff decided to expand the facilities and by December 1896, had doubled capacity through the introduction of two new stills and by increasing the number of washbacks. Today, Longmorn Master Distiller Trevor Buckley brings more than 30 years’ experience to his role and preserves the commitment to craft and technology.

LONGMORN CRAFT

Every element of the Longmorn distillery remains focused on crafting the famously intense and fruity spirit.

The unique shape of the broad and smooth shouldered stills at Longmorn have not changed since they were designed and installed by John Duff . The broadness of these stills provides greater contact with the copper during , creating a great depth, smoothness and fruitiness – known by distillers as the “kiss of the copper”.

The water used to make the spirit is drawn directly from a local underground lake called the Moray Aquifer, a water source that cannot be seen or accessed, guaranteeing exceptional purity and adding an air of mystery to the production process.

The depth and intensity of Longmorn spirit is enhanced in the maturation process by the inclusion of a high proportion of fi rst-fi ll casks, which add increased depth and create a taste that lingers on the palate.

The broad range of cask types available to Longmorn’s craftspeople, including ex-Oloroso sherry, fi rst-fi ll American oak and traditional oak, adds further complexity, richness and smoothness to the range.
