The old adage "ask and you shall receive" applies directiy to the fifth grade students of Huntiey South School, Huntiey, IL.. During their curriculum on the different styles of writing earlier this year the students studied the art of writing persuasive letters and used those skills to sway local Deans Foods Company, which operates a facility near the school. The kids asked Dean's to consult them as "taste-testers" for its Really Cool Flavors ice cream. On Friday, February 19, beginning at 12pm a fifth grade class at Huntley South School was granted their request when Dean's marketing executives traveled to the school to conduct a min-focus group and provide an ice cream party for the Taste testing varieties of ice cream are Alex Walchli, kids to congratulate them on a Ice cream taste tester is a fun job for Huntley fifth Sydney Hartman, Andrew Waters, Melissa Drafall successful lesson. graders Joe Santucci, David Reynolds, Kristen and Brian Helminski. "Dean's recendy received 150 persuasive letters from the fifth graders of Hundey South School. They were so persuasive that wc just couldn't say no," said Ted Wentzel, brand manager for Dean's ice cream. "We feel that in the spirit of hands-on leaming, actually conducting a mini-focus group about Dean's Really Cool Flavors is a great way to tech the kids how we really do "Taste- test" through qualitative research from consumers like themselves." Huntley fifth graders Hannah Sikula, Sarah "For die kids, the fact that we Chapman and Ronald Jackson "Savor the Flavor" are going to forward the letters to during the class ice cream tasting project. the company really added an exciting element to the lesson.
