News Story Summary Naya Rivera, an Actress from the TV Show “Glee Session 11: God Justifies Suggested Week of Use: November 15, 2020 Core Passage: Isaiah 53:1-12 News Story Summary Naya Rivera, an actress from the TV show “Glee”, drowned recently after getting her four-year- old son to safety on their boat. She and her son had been swimming in Lake Piru in California. They swam back to the boat and Naya boosted her son back into the boat. When the boy turned around, he saw his mother disappear under the water. At a press conference, the sheriff indicated that the lake has strong currents in the afternoon and that the unanchored boat had drifted requiring them to swim farther than anticipated. Apparently, Naya found the energy to get her son back onto the boat but could not muster enough to save herself. Her body was discovered five days after her disappearance. (For more on this story, search the Internet using the term “Police Believe Naya Rivera Risked Her Life to Save Her Son”). Focus Attention To supplement the Discuss idea under Focus Attention, begin the step by telling the story of Naya Rivera and how she saved her son. Ask: How do you think she found the energy to save her son? What impact might Naya’s sacrifice have on her son? Invite volunteers to share how the person they named impacted their lives. Complete the step as written. Summarize and Challenge To supplement the Pray idea under Summarize and Challenge, remind the group of Naya’s sacrificing herself to save her son. Ask: When her son is an adult, what do you think he might say about his mother’s actions to save his life? Give each person a sheet of paper and a pen or pencil. Instruct the group to write a short note to God about sacrificing His Son for us. Call for volunteers to share their responses. Close with prayer thanking God for what He has done for us through the death of Jesus. © LifeWay Christian Resources goExploreTheBible.com .

Natalie Dormer and Gene Tierney With HBO's massively successful fantasy series Game of Thrones finally over and a whole slew of spinoff series coming down the pipeline soon enough , many fans of the show are left wondering what star Natalie Dormer will do next. For instance, they've starred in the Ocean's film series and Burn After Reading. Here's What to Expect for the Super Bowl. It can't be denied that everyone knows her name. It can sometimes feel like society has hit a new level of boy craziness sometimes. Lea Michele and Naya Rivera The cast of Glee was riddled with as much in-house drama as a real-life glee club. When Lea Michele started gaining a massive fanbase, other characters started receiving fewer lines and less-important storylines. More than one person can use the same computer or device to vote, but each person needs to log out after voting. The achievement or service doesn't involve participation in aerial flight, and it can occur during engagement against a U. As such, it must be said that both these two stars deserve far more praise than they typically receive. As it turns out, the coffee business didn't quite work out.

  • 2011 NLMC Network Diversity Narrative
NLMC National Latino Media Council 2011 NLMC Network Diversity Narrative Two years ago the National Latino Media Council (NLMC) celebrated the 10th anniversary of the signing of the historic Memoranda of Understanding between the Multi-Ethnic Media Coalition1 and the top television broadcast networks: ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX. This is the 10th anniversary of the Diversity Report Cards. This ten year partnership has produced tangible and incremental results, but we seem to have reached a plateau. The networks want to reach the burgeoning Latino audience, but they have yet to understand just how to do so. According to the 2010 Census, Latinos are 16% of the U.S. population, representing $1 trillion in purchasing power annually. During the 2009-2010 television season, the Nielsen Company identified 12.9 million U.S. Latino TV households; approximately 65% of these households watch English media. As the Latino population continues to grow, the networks’ diversity performance remains inadequate. In the next decade, NLMC will identify and encourage the systematic change needed to weave more Latinos into the networks’ fabric. The network executives understand that Latinos represent a considerable audience, yet they struggle to create shows with which Latinos can connect. NLMC grades the networks on creative executives because it is essential that Latinos be part of the decision-making teams that green light programs. Without more Latinos creative executives, writers, producers and directors, television shows are less likely to succeed in attracting the Latino audience. There is much work to be done in the area of adding diversity to the ranks of working writers in Hollywood.

This is a fascinating look at the story behind the making of the series of `Glee' and the cast members ...By D. FowlerWilliam McKinley High School's glee club was loaded with a bunch of outcasts. Where else would you find an overweight diva, a "super-talented nerd," a gay loner, a wheelchair-bound boy, and a jock? Throw in a smattering of other losers and what do you come up with? `Glee' of course. If you've ever watched the series, you surely have your favorites among the cast and undoubtedly look forward to seeing them in the next episode. Perhaps all of us can relate to one or another of them as we travel through high school or recall our days there. Co-creator and executive producer, Ryan Murphy, claims that he "wanted to give voices to people who don't have voices."If you've wowed over the glee club's renditions of songs such as Joanne Osborne's "One of Us" or "The Only Exception" by Paramore, you'll definitely want to know about the people behind the voices.

These Latinos made a mark in our communities and nation. We lost them in 2020. LATINO These Latinos made a mark in our communities and nation. We lost them in 2020. Acclaimed novelist Rudolfo Anaya, Afro-Latina actress Naya Rivera, "Ugly Betty" co-creator Silvio Horta and U.S. soldier Vanessa Guillén are among those we remember. Rudolfo Anaya, Naya Rivera, Silvio Horta and Miriam Jimenez Roman. NBC News Dec. 30, 2020, 3:33 AM PST By Raul A. Reyes 2020 has been a year marked by grief and loss, but it is in the spirit of remembrance, not sadness, that we highlight the lives of several Latinos we said goodbye to this year. From Hollywood to Washington, from academia to the armed forces, these are just a few of our "familia" who enriched our communities, our lives and our nation before leaving us. RUDOLFO ANAYA, 82, a "godfather" of Chicano literature. Anaya is best known for his novel "Bless Me, Ultima" (1972), a coming-of-age story set in 1940s New Mexico. "Ultima" follows therelationship between a young boy and a curandera (healer) who comes to live with his family. A bestseller at a time when U.S. Latinos were rarely depicted in mainstream fiction, it has become one of the most acclaimed works in the Chicano literary canon. "Ultima" inspired generations of Latino writers, and it was adapted into a play, an opera and a film. "Books like 'Ultima' are part of our personal reading history. Because they are taught in schools, we don't forget seeing ourselves on the page for the first time," writer and critic Rigoberto González said.
