Market Questions & Answers: Where is the Market? The Freight House Farmer’s Market is located in the Freight House at 421 W River Dr, , Davenport, Iowa Where Do You Park? Limited parking is available in the Freight House lot by Modern Woodmen Park. Please do not park in the lot at the River’s Edge. Parking is also available at several areas in Downtown Davenport which has FREE PARKING for two hours in many locations. There is a parking lot directly off Western Avenue and River Drive, and Parking Garages are located at: Redstone Parking Ramp – 101 Main St, Harrison Parking Ramp – 202 Harrison St., and River Center Parking Ramp – 102 E 2nd St. Can you use a Debit or Credit Card ? Some of the vendors are equipped to take debit/credit payments, though most take cash. Where are the ATMs? There are two ATMs. One is located in the Freight House Indoor Market and the second is Outdoors in the median between E and W market lots. Space 163 and 248 flank the median. The atm is at the very end facing North. Every Tuesday – Saturday(10am-4pm) and Sundays(12pm-4pm) The Witness To Revolution Exhibit will be at the German American Heritage Center, 712 West 2 nd Street, Davenport, Iowa. This exhibit uses eye witness accounts from Americans who were there when communism fell in Europe, including a professor, a student, a reporter and U.S. Embassy staff. These notes, pictures and videos combine to tell a fascinating story of revolution and freedom. Hours: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays. Admission: $5 adults, $4 senior citizens, $3 youth, free for members. November 1: 7:30pm-9:30pm “Jazz Ensemble Fall Concert” will be held in Centennial Hall at Augustana College, 3703-7th Ave., Rock Island, Illinois . The Jazz Ensemble concert will be led by new Jazz Director Endre Rice. November 1: 8:00am-9:00am “Breakfast Nature Club” will take place at the Nahant Marsh Education Center, 4220 Wapello Ave., Davenport, Iowa. Learn the secret life of Iowa’s wildlife during this monthly class at Nahant Marsh. Each month we will explore the characteristics and adaptations of a group of local flora and fauna. A continental breakfast included in the fee. Feel free to bring your own coffee mug or travel container. Participants are encouraged to join in a “coffee talk” after and share stories of wildlife encounters and anything nature related. Register by calling 563-336-3370. November 2: 9:00am-10:00am “Guided Nature Hike” at the Nahant Marsh, 4220 Wapello Ave., Davenport, Iowa. Join a Naturalist for a guided hike along the trails at the Marsh. Hikes are offered on the first Saturday of the month and give visitors an opportunity to experience the environmental changes as the plants and wildlife adapt to the seasons. Whether you are a regular visitor or first-timer, there is always something to learn at experience at the Marsh. November 2 : 4:00pm SAU Middle School Honor Band Festival will gather for an all-day honor band festival that culminates in an All-Star Band performance. November 7: 6:00pm-8:00pm 5 th , 6 th , 7 th , and 8 th grade band concerts at the Center for Performing Arts at Bettendorf High School on 18 th Street in Bettendorf. November 8: 2:00pm-4:15pm “ A Recently Released movie will be shown at the Eastern Avenue Library in Davenport. Admission is free. Call the week of to see what movie will be shown. November 9: Nahant Marsh Family Saturday: Native Americans education will take place at the Nahant Marsh Education Center, 4220 Wapello Ave., Davenport, Iowa. Learn and explore nature during our weekend family programs. All ages welcome. November - Learn about some of the Native Americans groups that lived in this region. Children will learn about their traditions and the games they played throughout history. $3 Child Member/$6 Child Guest No fee for accompanying adults or children 3 and under. November 10: 3:00pm-6:00pm Catfish Jazz Society and Veterans Day Celebration will be held at the KC Hall, 35 th St., Dav., Iowa. Music and food, just $6.00. November 12: 10:00am “Veterans Day Parade” will take place at the Scott County Court House November 16: 10:00am The Fall Wild Edible Workshop will take place at the Wapsi River Environmental Education Center, 31555-52 nd Ave., Dixon, Iowa. Come learn about learn about the many wild edibles in your own neck of the woods. We will focus on identifying plants, foraging basics, and preparing wild edibles. We will take a hike outdoors to identify and harvest some of the fall wild edibles available during this time. At the end of the program, you will get to sample some wild flavors! Registration is required. Call 563-328-3286. November 17: 1:30pm-3:00pm “Cute Crafty Holiday Crafts” program will take place at the Duck Creek Lodge, 3000 E. Locust St., Davenport, Iowa. Admission is $10.00 for a Davenport resident and $12.00 for a non-resident. Come make your holidays special by creating your own special treat. We will transform everyday items into cute holiday projects. These would be great for gifts, but beware, they're so cute you may want to keep them for yourself! November 19 : 7:00pm-8:00pm 7 th Grade Chorus Concert at the Bettendorf High School Performing Arts Center on 18 th Street in Bettendorf. November 20: 2:00pm-4:00pm “Afternoon Classics” will be shown at the Eastern Avenue Branch Library, 6000 Eastern Ave., Davenport, Iowa. Join us the group as you watch classic films from the 1930's-1960s starring your favorite actors & actresses! This event is at the Eastern Avenue Davenport Library. Admission is free. November 20: 7:00pm Black Hawk College Big Band & Jazz Combos will take place at Black Hawk college, 6600- 34 th Ave., Moline, Illinois. The Black Hawk College Big Band and Jazz Combos Concert will be Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. in Building 1, Room 308 (theatre). The concert is free and open to the public. Guests should park in Lot 1 off 70th Street to access Building 1. November 21 : 9:00am-12:00pm “Santa’s Special Stars” morning will be held at the Festival of Trees at the River Center on 3 rd Street in Davenport. Individuals that receive services through New Choices need to have already registered for this event by letting your NCI Supervisor know that you are interested in going. November 22: 4:30pm-6:30pm “Painting Party” Learn to paint with acrylics in a fun, jam-packed class! The party will get started with students getting step-by-step instruction on how to paint an image selected by the instructor. After the class, stick around for Friday Night Jam! The cost of the painting class is $15.00. Register at the Rivers Edge, 700W. River Drive in Davenport. November 22 : 6:00pm-9:00pm The “Friday Night Jam’ will take place at the Roosevelt Community Center, 1220 Minnie Ave., Davenport, Iowa. Come on out to Roosevelt Community Center for our Friday Night Jam!! On the Fourth Friday of each month, you can join us for pizza, lemonade, board games, karaoke, and Wii games! New this summer, Davenport BUILDS will join us! Participants will be able to create Lego Masterpieces. Best of all, it is ONLY $4/person! (must arrive by 6:30 pm to order dinner) Includes 2 slices of pizza and lemonade for each person. November 23: 10:00am The “Festival Of Trees Parade” will take place in downtown Davenport. Experience the largest helium-balloon parade in the Midwest! Live marching bands, large character balloons towering over 3 stories tall, clowns, floats and more. Come and enjoy the holiday festivities during this annual parade. 10:00 a.m. Aferwards, visit the RiveCenter in downtown Davenport along the parade route and enjoy the Festival of Trees. The Festival of Trees features beautifully decorated Christmas trees, live entertainment, silent auctions, and a fun-filled kids area. November 28: Thanksgiving Day .
