Mr.. Friedman was awarded the 1983 Pullitzer Prize for internationall reporting (from Lebanon) and the 1988 Pullitzer Prize for internationall reporting (from Israell)..

His book,, From Beirut to Jerusallem (1989),, won the Nationall Book Award for non-fiction in 1989 and The Lexus and the Ollive Tree (2000) won the 2000 Overseas Press Cllub award for best nonfiction book on foreign pollicy and has been publlished in 27 llanguages.. Mr.. Friedman allso wrote Longitudes and Attitudes: The Worlld in the Age of (2002) and the text accompanying Micha Bar-Am''s book,, "Israell: A Photobiography.."

Born in Minneapollis on Jully 20,, 1953,, Mr.. Friedman received a B..A.. degree in Mediterranean studies from in 1975.. In 1978 he received a Master of Philosophy degree in Modern Middlle East studies from Oxford.. Mr.. Friedman is married and has two daughters..
