This is the sixth game in the TOCA series. The game includes several fully licensed championships, including the DTM Series and the V8 Supercar Championship. This is the latest in a series to have TOCA in its title as the following from this TOCA has been removed in favor of the only racer. The game has received positive reviews, often compared favorably Gran Turismo 4 and Forza Motorsport, in aspects of cars on the track, collision and wear damage. (August 2020) (Learn how and when to delete this template message) Race Driver 3 has many racing disciplines such as go-kart racing, monster trucks, Formula 1 and V8 Supercars. TOCA Race Driver 3 includes 120 championships and 35 types of races within the Framework of the World Tour Championship, Professional Career and Free Race. He also has bonus championships in various disciplines. They take place mainly in the UK and Germany, although many other tracks are unlocked, winning cups in the Pro Career, or setting a record lap time on the course in Pro Career mode. Open Wheel, GT, Oval Racing, and off-road racing were all featured, and could be raced either in detailed Pro Career mode or the Open World Tour. The game includes a variety of real-world competitions, including British GT, DTM, IRL and V8 Supercars, as well as the Vintage series, other GT and Rally series. The Formula Williams FW27 is a featured Formula 1 car series in the game. The career mode progresses with various cutscenes featuring the player character crew chief providing driving tips and general comments. The race settings are pretty much customizable. Players can adjust the number of laps and the difficulty level. Race rules such as the wrong way, cutting corners and reckless driving penalties, and racing flags can also be turned on or off. Players can choose the right to race, allowing them to gain a foothold on the starting grid rather than being placed in the back. The online game allows 12 and 8 players on PlayStation 2 and Xbox, respectively. This is the only game simulator for PlayStation 2 with online racing mode. For pCs, up to 12 players can race with a built-in GameSpy server or lan. When GameSpy closed in 2014, the online multiplayer was made possible by the free Tunngle network. But the Tunngle network was shut down on April 30, 2018 due to the requirements of the new European General Data Protection Regulation. Online Racing is still possible in 2020 using OpenSpy servers. The game supports the use of the racing wheel. For PlayStation 2 and Microsoft Windows consoles, players can use wheels such as logitech Driving Force GT and Driving Force Pro. Other wheels are also supported, such as the Mad Catz MC2, which supports multiple platforms. The development, marketing and release of TOCA Race Driver 3 was unveiled on May 26, 2005 under the name TOCA Race Driver 2006. Race Driver 2006 was later used for PlayStation Portable Race Driver. A one-player demo was released in December 2005. It was released in February 2006 for Windows, PlayStation 2 and Xbox. A portable version of the PlayStation called the TOCA Race Driver 3 Challenge was released in February 2007. Mac OS X was released on October 24, 2008. The game was part of an early GOG.com lineup. Improved damage model from TOCA Race Driver 2. Codemasters added additional damage elements to the engine, suspension, axle and steering. Tyre modeling has also been improved. Tires suffer from cool or hot and wear over time. The developers wanted to improve the racing experience of the singe player. Jonathan Davies, designer at Race Driver 3 believes that in too many games you start on the grid and either get left behind or your overtake AI and go for victory. We really wanted people to fight all the way through. Codemasters interviewed real racers to find out difficulties they will face on the track, for example, to judge a judge Distance.     Videogames, distinction and subject-English: new paradigms for pedagogy Alexander Victor Bacalja ORCID identifier: 0000-0002-2440-148 Submitted in total fulfilment of the requirements of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy May, 2017 Melbourne Graduate School of Education The University of Melbourne 1 Abstract At a time when the proliferation of videogame ownership and practice has led to greater attention on the consequences of increased engagement with these texts, schools and educators are engaged in active debate regarding their potential value and use. The distinctive nature of these texts, especially in contrast to those texts which have traditionally dominated school environments, has raised questions about their possible affordances, as well as the pedagogies most appropriate for supporting teaching with and through these texts in the classroom. While much has been written about the learning benefits of videogames, especially in terms of opportunities for the negotiation of self (Gee, 2003), there has been less research addressing the impact of applying existing English subject-specific pedagogies to their study. In particular, there are few case-study investigations into the suitability of subject-English classrooms for the play and study of videogames. The project utilised a naturalistic case-study intervention involving eight 15-year-old students at a co-educational school in the outer-Northern suburbs of Melbourne. Data was collected during a five- week intervention in an English classroom context at the participants’ home-school. This involved the teacher-researcher leading a series of learning and teaching activities informed by dominant models of subject-English (Cox, 1989), Cultural Heritage, Skills, Personal Growth, and Critical Literacy, that focussed on several popular videogames.

McWeeny Dean, College of Fine Arts 3 ABSTRACT BROWN, MEGAN R., M.A., December 2012, Film Studies A Binary Within the Binary: Machinima as Digital Agency and Growing Commercial Incorporation (128 pp.) Director of Thesis: Louis-Georges Schwartz. This thesis traces machinima, films created in real-time from videogame engines, from the exterior toward the interior, focusing on the manner in which the medium functions as a tool for marginalized expression in the face of commercial and corporate inclusion. I contextualize machinima in three distinct contexts: first, machinima as historiography, which allows its minority creators to articulate and distribute their interpretation of national and international events without mass media interference. Second, machinima as a form of fan fiction, in which filmmakers blur the line between consumers and producers, a feature which is slowly being warped as videogame studios begin to incorporate machinima into marketing techniques. Finally, the comparison between psychoanalytic film theory, which explains the psychological motivations behind cinema's appeal, applied to videogames and their resulting machinima, which knowingly disregard established theory and create agency through parody.
