2021 Open Pollinated/Heirloom Tomato Seedling Advance Order Listing Thank you for looking at my listing of tomato varieties that can be pre-ordered for the 2021 season. The deadline for pre-ordering is APRIL 15th. I am sorry, no late orders accepted. *** Please be aware that I fill the orders in the order I receive them. Ordering early guarantees you receive your choices. I do anticipate being very busy this year. It would be wonderful if we had safely made our way through the pandemic in time for me to hold my regular Victoria Day weekend sale, but as I write this in mid-January I think that will not be the case. In order to get my seedlings to you as safely as possible, I will again go back to doing sales by appointments, just as I did last year. I will be wearing a mask and ask that you please wear one also. *** If you are picking up preordered tomato seedlings only, there is no need at all to schedule an appointment. Simply let me know when you would like to come to pick them up and I will have your plants ready for contactless pick up. If however you are interested in additional plants, please make an appointment with me. You will accompany me back to my hoop house and I will spend half an hour helping you with additional selections. Tomato seedlings are the only plants available for preorder because I simply don’t have the time to pick out everything else. What else do I grow? Many, many things...most veggies, herbs and some flowers as well. I will update my website with a list. Appointments will begin very early in the season in order for me to get through everyone. The advantage of scheduling early is you get the best pick of plants. The disadvantage is you need to nurse your tender seedlings until it is warm enough to plant them outside. When we are chatting, I’ll give you some tips. The first appointment time will be April 25th at 10am. The appointments will continue 7 days a week, every half hour between 10 am and 5 pm. If you would like to schedule an appointment, please email me: [email protected] or text/phone at 905-386-7388. As was the case last year, I will open up for roadside sales when the weather is sufficiently decent and won’t kill the plants. Just show up, keep your distance from others please and no appointment required. This will be for tomato plants only, cash and self serve. I’ll post when I am open for these sales on my website and on social media. I will keep selling as long as there are seedlings to sell. I always used to say I never sell out, but I did have to say it last year. I will have more seedlings this year, so anticipate there being lots, likely way too many. So I’ll open for a longer season this year too. Please stick to this list when placing your preorder. It is time consuming to add varieties to your order that aren’t on the list. I appreciate your cooperation with this. This listing has a good variety of colours, shapes and sizes and I am excited to introduce a whole bunch of varieties you haven’t seen on this list before. All plants are limited quantity. I do my best to fill orders and generally do, but there is a chance I will run out as the advance orders become more plentiful. Please indicate if you will accept a substitute. I will offer you something very similar to your request. Not all heirlooms, and all but two are open pollinated meaning you can save your own seed. Why preorder? To make sure you get what you want! I do grow lots of plants and generally never run out, but do sell out of some specific varieties. All plants are potted up into 3 1/2 inch containers. The pots in 2021 are a little larger than previously. You will note that my pots are either environmentally friendly or plastic that I am reusing. I am always happy to take your used pots for reuse. If possible, please bring your own trays or boxes to carry your seedlings home in. It helps keep my costs down and therefore yours. I reuse all of my trays and am seeking out non plastic alternatives for trays. All my seedlings are approximately 6-8 weeks old when you pick them up and are hardened off and ready to go in the ground. My plants are all grown from organic seed, much of it my own seed, without the use of any chemical inputs. Plants this year are still $4.00. Payments can be made by snail mail, with the accompanying order form, (mail to 74038 Regional Road 45, Wellandport, ON L0R 2J0) by email transfer or Paypal and an accompanying email order (email: treeand [email protected]). ***Please indicate as well your preferred date for pick up. Thank you so much for your continued support and here’s hoping for a great year in the 2021 garden. All the best, Linda NOTES: Indet. means “indeterminate” which most heirlooms are. This means the plants keep growing and producing until a frost kills them. The plants can become huge, so plant accordingly. Det. means “determinate”. These plants stop growing when they reach their genetically determined size. You can expect to get one good harvest. These are great for pots or smaller gardens. Reg. leaf means, yes, your typical tomato leaf, as opposed to “potato leaf” which look like potato leaves, angora which are fuzzy, rugosa which are smaller compact leaves. After each plant you will see a number referring to days. This is the number of days that generally it will take for the plant to produce edible fruit from transplant. 55-60 is pretty early. All tomatoes are acidic…some just don’t taste as acidic as others. Lighter coloured fruit generally tastes less acidic, like yellows and whites. Bicolour 1.
