CSUN MEN’S BASKETBALL CSUN MEN’S BASKETBALL // COACHING STAFF ASSISTANT COACH JASON LEVY Third Season

Levy enters his third season coaching the Matadors alongside Head Coach Reggie Theus and came to CSUN after serving five sea- sons as an assistant at Loyola Marymount of the West Coast Conference. He earned his degree from CSUN in 1993 in Leisure Studies & Recreation and has returned home to his alma mater. While at LMU, he helped the Lions advance to the semifinals at the 2013 West Coast Conference Championships for the second time in three years. He also recruited 10 WCC All-Conference selections that included three 1,000-point scorers and helping lead the team to wins over nationally-ranked teams including Gonzaga, St. Mary’s, UCLA and St. Louis. In 2011-12, the Lions defense ranked 20th in three-point field goal defense (.302). Prior to his assistant coaching duties at Loyola Marymount, Levy spent eight seasons at Cal State Fullerton where he helped the Titans win the Big West regular season (the first conference regular title since 1976) and conference tournament titles during the 2007-08 season that earned Fullerton its first trip to the NCAA Tournament in 32 years. With Levy, the Titans boasted four straight winning seasons, includ- ing 20 wins or more in three of the last five years, and his recruiting efforts included some of the best players in Titan’s history including Bobby Brown, the Titans’ all-time leading scorer. Levy was also recognized in 2002 as one of the top 20 assistants at mid-major schools by Rivals100Hoops.com. Levy also coached as an assistant at the University of Portland after spending two seasons at Long Beach State and one at UC Irvine. After graduating from CSUN, Levy began his collegiate coaching career as an assistant to Rudy Washington at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. He also coached at the Double Pump Camps at Cal State Dominguez Hills in 1992-93. Levy’s roots grew in New York where he played high school basketball at La Salle Academy in Manhattan before venturing west and playing two seasons at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo. ASSISTANT COACH CHRIS POMPEY Third Season

Pompey enters his third season as a Matador and fifth working with Head Coach Reggie Theus. He has worked in collegiate coaching for 16 seasons. Pompey came to CSUN after spending three seasons at Seton Hall University. During the 2011-12 season, Seton Hall was the #1 seed in the NIT Tournament with a 21-win season. Previous to Seton Hall, Pompey worked alongside Coach Theus at New Mexico State. He spent four seasons with the Aggies and brought in student-athletes that helped the Aggies produce three 20-win campaigns, a pair of Western Athletic Conference Tournament titles (2006-07, 2009-10), a regular season league title (2007-08) and appearances in the NCAA Tournament during the 2006-07 and 2009-10 seasons. In his first season at New Mexico State, Pompey helped recruit a top 20 class that was rated third-best among mid-major schools in the nation by Rivals.com. Pompey began his collegiate career at the University of Hartford in 2000 where he helped the Hawks become one of the premier teams in the America East Conference. Hartford reached the semifinals of the American East Conference Championships three times (2001- 02, 2002-03, 2003-04) and during the 2005-06 season, then head coach Larry Harrison was named the league’s Coach of the Year. Pompey was recognized as one of the top mid-major assistant coaches in the country by Hoop Scoop from 2003-2006. He helped six players earn All-Conference accolades. Following his success at Hartford, Pompey became an assistant coach at Hampton University in Virginia. In less than a month, he helped bring in a top 50 recruiting class. Prior to his collegiate coaching career, Pompey spent eight years as the founder, director and head coach of the DC Stars AAU bas- ketball program in Washington, D.C. Under his leadership, the DC Stars became recognized as one of the premier AAU programs in the country.
