Beitr. 45/2 1983-1989 20.12.2013 A study on Miridae (Hemiptera: Heteroptera) from Golestan National Park, Northern Iran H. GHAHARI Abstract: This paper deals with the faunistic study on the family Miridae (Heteroptera) in Golestan National Park, northern Iran. Totally 17 species from 13 genera (Adelphocoris REUTER, Amblytylus FIEBER, Atomoscelis REUTER, Badezorus DISTANT, Blepharidopterus KOLENATI, Brachynotocoris REUTER, Campylomma REUTER, Campyloneuropsis POPPIUS, Creontiades DISTANT, Deraeocoris KIRSCHBAUM, Macrolophus FIEBER, Nesidiocoris KIRKALDY, Pilophorus HAHN) were collected and identified. Key words: Heteroptera, Miridae, Fauna, Golestan National Park, Iran. Introduction Plant bugs (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Miridae) are one of the most important and diverse families of insects, with over than 11.000 world wide species (CASSIS & SCHUH 2012). Miridae include 8 subfamilies, Isometopinae, Psallopinae Cylapinae, Orthotylinae, Bryocorinae, Deraeocorinae, Mirinae, and Phylinae (SCHUH 1995; HENRY 2009). The Miridae of Iran were studied rather well in a number of scattered contributions (e.g. KERZHNER 1996; LINNAVUORI & HOSSEINI 1998, 1999, 2000; LINNAVUORI 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000a, b, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010; ARKANI et al. 2011; LASHKARI et al. 2011; LASHKARI & HOSSEINI 2012; EBRAHIMI et al. 2012; HOSSEINI 2013a, b, c). Almost heteropteran families of Iran were catalogued by the author (GHAHARI et al. 2009a, b, 2010a, b, 2012, 2013; GHAHARI & HEISS 2012; GHAHARI & MOULET 2012, 2013) and of the Miridae, the catalogue is under completing by the author. Therefore, the aim of this paper is faunistic survey of Miridae in Golestan National Park. The Golestan National Park was the first area in Iran to be designated as a national park. It is located at 37,16 to 37,36 north latitude and 55,44 to 56,17 east longitude and has an area of about 91000 hectares. The terrain is mountainous with altitude varying between 380 and 2819 meters. The park contains a rich diversity of flora and fauna, unique in many respects. Although the animal fauna of Golestan National Park was studied rather well (HASSAN ZADEH et al. 1994; AKHANI 1996), the insects fauna was not studied so far, exception Ichneumonidae and Braconidae (Hymenoptera) (GHAHARI & JUSSILA 2010; GHAHARI & FISCHER 2011). © Biologiezentrum Linz/Austria; download unter www.biologiezentrum.a 1984 Materials and Methods The specimens of this research were collected by sweeping net during author’s trips to some regions of Golestan National Park in April and June 2012. The collected specimens were killed with ethyl acetate and mounted on triangular labels. The materials were identified by relevant taxonomic keys (WAGNER 1973, 1974; WAGNER & WEBER 1964). Classification, nomenclature and distribution data of Miridae suggested by AUKEMA & RIEGER (1999) and AUKEMA et al. (2013) have been followed. Results In total 17 species of Miridae from 13 genera were collected from Golestan National Park, which the list of species is given below alphabetically with distribution data. Box: 41635-1314; e-mails: [email protected], [email protected] Abstract. A new species, Isometopus (Isometopus) linnavuorii sp. nov., is descri- bed from Iran. Illustrations of male genitalia, scanning electron micrographs of male habitus and other selected characters of this new taxon are provided. The diagnosis of the new species is based on a comparison with other congeneric from the Middle East and Europe. The type specimens were deposited in the in- sect collection of the University of Guilan, Rasht, Iran. Isometopus (Isometopus) kaznakovi Kiritshenko, 1939 and Isometopus (Isometopus) mirifi cus Mulsant & Rey, 1879 are excluded from the fauna of Iran. The gender agreement is corrected in the name Isometopus praetermissus Akingbohungbe, 2012. Key words. Heteroptera, Miridae, Isometopinae, new species, taxonomy, Guilan province, Iran, Palaearctic Region Introduction The subfamily Isometopinae is a group of generally small, strongly cryptic plant bugs with worldwide distribution (KERZHNER & JOSIFOV 1999, SCHUH 2013, CASSIS & SCHUH 2012). The members of this subfamily have paired ocelli between the compound eyes, which easily distinguishes them from other mirid subfamilies. The bugs appear to be generalist predators of soft-bodied insects, such as aphids and scale insects, inhabiting trunks, bark or branches of various broadleaved trees (HESSE 1947, WHEELER & HENRY 1978).

Potential interactions between the pheromone and a known attractant, (E)-cinnamaldehyde, were also assessed. Coupled gas chromatography- electroantennography (GC-EAG) using male antennae and volatile extracts collected from females, previously shown to attract males in field experiments, revealed the presence of three physiologically active compounds. These were identified by coupled GC/ mass spectrometry (GC/MS) and peak enhancement as hexyl butyrate, (E)-2-hexenyl butyrate and (E)-4-oxo-2-hexenal. A ternary blend of these compounds in a 5.4:9.0:1.0 ratio attracted male A. lineolatus in field trials in Hungary. Omission of either (E)-2- hexenyl-butyrate or (E)-4-oxo-2-hexenal from the ternary blend or substitution of (E)-4-oxo-2-hexenal by (E)-2-hexenal resulted in loss of activity. These results indicate that this Central European population is similar in pheromone composition to that previously reported for an East Asian population.

NEWS ON TRUE BUGS OF SERRA DE COLLSEROLA NATURAL PARK (NE IBERIAN PENINSULA) AND THEIR POTENTIAL USE IN ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION (INSECTA, HETEROPTERA) Víctor Osorio1, Marcos Roca-Cusachs2 & Marta Goula3 1 Mestre Lluís Millet, 92, Bxos., 3a; 08830 Sant Boi de Llobregat; Barcelona, Spain – [email protected] 2 Plaça Emili Mira i López, 3, Bxos.; 08022 Barcelona, Spain – [email protected] 3 Departament de Biologia Animal and Institut de Recerca de la Biodiversitat (IRBio), Facultat de Biologia, Universitat de Barcelona (UB), Avda. Diagonal 645, 08028 Barcelona, Spain – [email protected] Abstract: A checklist of 43 Heteropteran species collected in the area of influence of Can Coll School of Nature is given. By its rarity in the Catalan fauna, the mirid Deraeocoris (D.) schach (Fabricius, 1781) and the pentatomid Sciocoris (N.) maculatus Fieber, 1851 are interesting species. Plus being rare species, the mirid Macrotylus (A.) solitarius (Meyer-Dür, 1843) and the pentatomid Sciocoris (S.) umbrinus (Wolff, 1804) are new records for the Natural Park. The mirids Alloetomus germanicus Wagner, 1939 and Amblytylus brevicollis Fieber, 1858, and the pentatomid Eysarcoris aeneus (Scopoli, 1763) are new contributions for the Park checklist. The Heteropteran richness of Can Coll suggests them as study group for the environmental education goals of this School of Nature. Key words: Heteroptera, faunistics, new records, environmental education, Serra de Collserola, Catalonia, Iberian Peninsula.

TRICEROMYCES: WITH A DESCRIPTION OF MONOECIOUS-DIOECIOUS DIMORPHISM IN THE GENUS RICHARD K. BENJAMIN Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden Claremont, California 91711 ABSTRACf Six species of Triceromyces (Laboulbeniales), including the type, T. balazucii (on Hebridae), parasitic on semiaquatic Hemiptera, were studied at the light-microscopic level. Descriptions are provided for all of the taxa, and features of developmental morphology are described, compared, and illustrated with photographs and line drawings. Four species are described as new: T. hebri (on Hebridae), T. hydrometrae (on Hydrometridae), and T. bi/ormis and T. bullatus (on MesoveJiidae). The species growing on Hebridae and Hydrometridae are monoecious. The two species on Mesoveliidae develop monoecious and dioecious morphs, which occur together on the same host individual. This phenom enon is recognized and described for the first time in the Laboulbeniales. Two species, Autophagomyces poissonii and Dioicomyces mesoveliae, previously described from a species ofMesoveliidae, are shown to represent the monoecious and dioecious forms of a species of Triceromyces and are transferred to this genus as T.
