Sometimes When I Reflect Back on All the Wine I Drink, I Feel Shamed “Sometimes when I reflect back on all the wine I drink, I feel shamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the vineyard and all of their hopes and dreams. If I don’t drink this wine, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, it is better that I drink this wine and let their dreams come true, than be selfish and worry about my liver.” - Jack Handy - BEER, CIDER & APERITIF APERITIF 2009 Small Acres Cyder ‘Pommeau’ Orange, NSW 15 Morris ‘Mia’ Aged Amber Apera Rutherglen, VIC 16 Ouzo Plomari Lesvos, Greece 12 Lillet Blanc, ‘Vermouth’ Bordeaux, France 12 Aperitif Noix, ‘Walnut’ France 12 Rin Quin Quin, ‘Peach’ France 12 Liquore de Paris, ‘Hazelnut’ France 14 Le Birlou, ‘Apple and Chestnut’ France 14 CIDER Kelly Brothers ‘Pomme’ Sparkling Apple Yarra Valley, VIC 9 Small Acres ‘Poire’ Pure Pear Yarra Valley, VIC 9 GINGER BEER 4 Pines Brewing Co. ‘Brookvale Union’ (500mL) Manly, NSW 14 BEER The Public Brewery ‘Light Ale’ Warrandyte, VIC 8 Crown Lager Australia 8 4 Pines Brewing Co. ‘Kolsch’ Manly, NSW 9 Hawkers ‘Pilsener’ Reservoir, VIC 9 Bad Shepherd ‘Draught Pilsener’ Cheltenham, VIC 9 Hawthorn Brewing Co. ‘Golden Ale’ Hawthorn, VIC 9 Napoleone ‘American Pale Ale’ Coldstream, VIC 9 White Rabbit ‘Dark Ale’ Geelong, VIC 10 Bad Shepherd ‘Brown Ale’ Cheltenham, VIC 10 Asahi Tokyo, Japan 9 Peroni Nastro Azzurro Rome, Italy 9 Menabrea Biella, Italy 10 Moritz Barcelona, Spain 10 Alhambra ‘1925 Reserva’ Granada, Spain 10 “A fine beer may be judged with just one sip, but its better to be thoroughly sure …” Wine vintages may vary without notice BYO wine available Tues & Wed only - $10 corkage per bottle applies COCKTAILS MOCKTAILS Apple Apple Juice, Ginger Ale, Fresh Mint & Lime 8 Berries Mixed Berries, Fresh Lime & Soda Water 8 Pomegranate Pomegranate, Fresh Mint, Lime & Lemonade 8 COCKTAILS Champagne Cocktail Grand Marnier, Angostura Bitters & Sparkling Wine 16 Martini Tanqueray No. Ten Rare Dry Gin, Dolin Dry Vermouth & Green Olives 16 Peach Iced Tea Tea Leaf Infused Vodka, Peach Liqueur, Apple & Cranberry Juice 16 Mojito Havana Club ‘Añejo 3 Anos’, Fresh Mint, Lime & Soda Water 16 French Lilac Bombay Gin, Lillet Blanc, Cointreau, Violet Liqueur & Soda Water 16 Pomegranate Jewel Aperol, Père Bertrand Triple Sec, Pomegranate, Fresh Mint & Lime 16 Apple Crumble Cinnamon Infused Vodka, Le Birlou, Fresh Lime & Apple Juice 16 Lemon Meringue Limoncello, Galliano, Lemon Infused Vodka & Lemon Juice 16 Negroni Campari, Four Pillars Rare Dry Gin, Vermouth Rouge & Fresh Orange 18 Spicy Bloody Mary Chilli Infused Vodka &Tomato Juice with the usual trimmings 16 Espresso Martini Coffee Tequila, Vanilla Infused Vodka, Pedro Ximenez & Espresso 16 Wine vintages may vary without notice BYO wine available Tues & Wed only - $10 corkage per bottle applies WINES BY THE GLASS SPARKLING 150ml 2016 Quorum Superiore Prosecco Veneto, Italy 14 2002 John Gehrig Pinot Noir Brut King Valley, VIC 14 NV Delamere Cuvée Pipers River, TAS 13 WHITE 170ml 2017 Portsea Estate Rose’ Mornington, VIC 12 2017 Foxeys Hangout Pinot Gris Mornington, VIC 13 2016 Von Hovel ‘Trocken’ Riesling Mosel, Germany 15 2017 Jim Barry Assyrtiko Clare Valley, SA 14 2016 Te Whare Ra Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough, NZ 12 2016 Lavaradores de Feitoria Branco Douro, Portugal 12 2016 Burton McMahon ‘Georges’ Chardonnay Yarra Valley, VIC 14 RED 170ml 2015 Te Mania ‘Reserve’ Pinot Noir Nelson, NZ 14 2015 Rucks Estate ‘The Q’ Merlot Wrattonbully, SA 13 2012 El Quintanal Tempranillo Ribera del Duero, Spain 13 2015 Bleasdale ‘Generations’ Malbec Langhorne Creek, SA 13 2015 Wangolina Cabernet Sauvignon Mt Benson, SA 14 2014 Brick Kiln ‘Single Vineyard’ Shiraz McLaren Vale, SA 14 2016 Chapel Hill ‘Bush Vine’ Grenache McLaren Vale, SA 15 SWEET 100ml 2016 Foxeys Hangout ‘Late Harvest’ Pinot Gris Mornington, VIC 12 FORTIFIED 60ml NV Pfeiffer Wines ‘Classic’ Topaque Rutherglen, VIC 12 NV Pfeiffer Wines ‘Classic’ Muscat Rutherglen, VIC 12 NV Morris ‘Grand’ Tokay Rutherglen, VIC 16 NV Morris ‘Grand’ Muscat Rutherglen, VIC 16 NV Ramos Pinto ‘La Grima’ White Port Douro, Portugal 14 1996 Burmester ‘Colheita’ Vintage Port Douro, Portugal 14 NV Cardenal Cisneros Pedro Ximenez Jeréz, Spain 15 Wine vintages may vary without notice BYO wine available Tues & Wed only - $10 corkage per bottle applies WHITE WINE CHAMPAGNE NV J. • Exploring the Coastal & Volcanic Landscapes of Victoria's Western
From Seafarers to Pastoralists: Exploring the Coastal & Volcanic Landscapes of Victoria’s Western District – October 2021 18 OCT – 26 OCT 2021 Code: 22172AU Tour Leaders Christine Reid, Emeritus Professor Harriet Edquist AM Physical Ratings With Christine Reid, an internationally recognised garden writer and historian, explore the history of 'Australia Felix', the name Thomas Mitchell gave to the lush pastures of western Victoria. Overview Nineteenth-century Scottish ‘pastoralists’ in Western Victoria were responsible for one of the most extraordinary episodes in Australian architectural history, the ‘Western District homestead’, which has almost legendary status in Victoria. In a relatively short space of time, from the 1840s to the 1880s, they commissioned hundreds of homesteads, station outbuildings and associated structures to house their burgeoning enterprises. Through these settlements they produced a tight network of family, community and business interests extending from one end of the District to the other and they transformed themselves from economic adventurers into a powerful social and political elite. Harriet Edquist, 'The Architectural Legacy of the Scots in the Western District of Victoria, Australia', Architectural Heritage XXIV (2013): 67–85 ASA wishes to thank the wonderful hosts we will be meeting during this tour, who through opening their gates, are supporting local charities. Travel with Christine Reid, an internationally recognised garden writer and historian who has a long association with the Western District. Learn about architectural legacy of the Scots in the Western District from our guest lecturer, Emeritus Professor Harriet Edquist AM, who will be joining the tour for the first 6 days. Harriet has researched the European settlement of the Western District for over two decades, revealing the impact of the Scottish diaspora, the role of the whaling industry in the development of colonial architecture and the dynastic ambitions of settlers such as the Learmonth family.

  • DAME's WINE COLLECTION: We've Gone All in on Natural Wine Because
DAME’S WINE COLLECTION: We’ve gone all in on natural wine because we believe in celebrating farmers and other stewards of the land who work tirelessly to create biodiverse landscapes. Great wine is a transmitter of a certain place and time in history: if made with nothing but grapes, a bottle has the ability to tell us what the soil in the vineyard is composed of, what the weather was like in a given vintage, and what the surrounding flora and fauna are doing. Cover it up with any number of 60-plus legal chemical additives, and what are you left with? Something engineered that no longer transmits its story. The winemakers represented on these pages make wine from their core; with dedication, integrity, and great care for the land they farm. We are delighted to share the wines and the stories of folks whose hearts lay in the same vein as our own. These producers represent some of the world’s most unique vineyards and rare heritage grape varietals. We believe sharing these special wines with you is an honest extension of our desire to provide thoughtful hospitality. Your evening is in our hands for a few hours and it’s with great pleasure we get to open bottles for you that represent our ethos, the deep culture of the winemakers, and the diverse areas they farm. It’s all about heart, from the vineyard to your table, we hope you find as much charm and joy in these wines as we do. Corkage: $25 (per 750ml not on our list) Wine shop corkage $10 daytime (until 5:30pm) BY THE GLASS half / full SPARKLING Lise & Bertrand Jousset ‘Exilé Pétillant
