Approved on the UMC Meeting Minutes № 2 dated December 03, 2020 PROCEDURE FOR CARRYING OUT INTERMEDIATE CERTIFICATION FOR THE AUTUMN SEMESTER OF THE 2020-2021 ACADEMIC YEAR WITH THE APPLICATION OF DOT AND ONLINE PROCTORING 1. The intermediate certification of the fall semester of the 2020/21 academic year at KBTU is carried out in a distance format. 2. Final exam forms: ➢ written exam: in the form of tests and / or open-ended questions in online format using the proctoring system; ➢ oral exam in online format;; ➢ individual / group projects, performed offline at home on pre-assigned assignments and questions with an “open book” (take-home open book exam); ➢ combined exam in online format (projects and oral defense). Cumulative assessment (only for mathematical disciplines). 3. Teachers fill out the Exam Guidelines and post them on the teachers page in Uninet and on the platform on which the exam will take place until December 7, 2020. 4. Students must first familiarize themselves with the instructors' instructions on the final control for each discipline. Important: All exams are held strictly according to the approved schedule posted in wsp.kbtu.kz (uninet system). Unacceptable: 1. The appropriation or reproduction of ideas, words, or statements of another person without appropriate reference. 2. Providing false information to the teacher, false reason for missing a lesson or falsely claiming that the work has been submitted. 3. Any attempt to use external assistance without appropriate permission, or without acknowledgment of the use of this assistance. Students are allowed to the final exams: have no financial debt; scored 30 or more points per semester; not on academic leave. Written exam: in the form of tests and / or open-ended questions in online format using the proctoring system; 5.1 All participants of the online exam should familiarize themselves with the Instructions for online proctoring on the main page at wsp.kbtu.kz (uninet system). 5.2 Automatic Exam Card Creation. 5.3 The teacher evaluates the answers of each student within 5 working days and sends the statement to the OR. Points are also transferred to the list in wsp.kbtu.kz. 5.4 Memo for the teacher in Appendix 1. Important: Verification of work for originality in the anti-plagiarism system, except for solving problems and tests. 6. Online oral exam: 6.1 30 minutes before the start of the exam, the teacher and the student check the Internet connection, laptop operation. 6.2 The teacher carries out the roll call of students and marks in his turnout list. 6.3 On the day of the exam and at the beginning of the exam, the teacher reminds students to start the exam in the general chat or in another way. 6.4 After all participants have connected to the conference online, the teacher: 1. Includes VIDEO RECORDING of the exam; 2. welcomes the participants to the exam; 3. warns that video is being recorded; 4. notifies the examinees about the order of the exam, preparation time, response time; 5. warns about the prohibition of the use of the Internet, social networks and cheating; 6. announces the rules of the exam (from the instructions for the disciplines). 6.5 Further, the teacher says the last name, first name and patronymic of the student and asks him to show the ID on the video camera. 6.6 The teacher names the ticket number to which the student must answer and publishes the file of a specific ticket in the class chat on the conducted platform or in another resource specified in advance in the instructions for the subject. 6.7 The student is given time to prepare for answers. 6.8 The instructor accepts the test taker's answer and at the end of the answer allows the examiner to leave the meeting. Then the procedure is repeated with each student. Based on the results of passing the exam, the teacher puts points in the final sheet. 7. Individual / group projects, performed offline at home on pre-assigned tasks and questions with an "open book" (take-home open book exam). Combined exam in online format (projects and oral defense): 7.1 30 minutes before the start of the exam, the teacher and the student check the availability of an Internet connection, the operation of a computer / laptop. 7.2 The teacher carries out the roll call of students and marks in his turnout list. 7.3 On the day of the exam and at the beginning of the exam, the teacher reminds students to start the exam in the general chat or in another way. 7.4 On the day of the exam and at the beginning of the exam, the teacher reminds students to start the exam in the general chat or in another way. 7.5 After all participants have connected to the conference online, the teacher: 1. A maximum of 15 minutes is recommended for each project group. 8. Summative assessment (only for mathematical disciplines): 8.1 When applying this method, it is necessary to be guided by the Instructions for assigning marks for the discipline by the method of total assessment. 8.2 If the student disagrees with the mark given by the total assessment method, the student submits an application to wsp.kbtu.kz (uninet system) about his desire to pass the exam in the relevant discipline in the form provided in Appendix 2 to this Procedure. The application must be submitted before 6 pm on December 15, 2020. 9.3 The absence by 18:00 of the set period in wsp.kbtu.kz (uninet system) of the student's application in the student's personal account about the desire to pass the exam in the disciplines for which cumulative assessment is allowed, means his agreement with the grade in the discipline, set using cumulative assessment ... 8.4 List of disciplines with total assessment in Appendix 3. 9. Grading "Incomplete" 9.1 If students are unable to take part in the exam using DOT for the reasons: - lack of sufficient technical means; - lack or limited access to the Internet, intermediate certification, at his request, can be postponed to January 11-23, 2021. in online format and only orally (video / audio call), while the student is given an “I” mark (“Incomplete” - “not completed”). 9.2 The student submits an application to postpone the exam for the above reasons in the form provided for in Appendix 4 to these Rules, to the electronic address [email protected]. 9.3 Grade "Incomplete" must be changed no later than the specified period by passing the exam in online format only orally (video / audio call). 9.4 In the event that the student does not pass the exam on time, the student is given an “unsatisfactory” (“F”) mark. 9.5 The “Incomplete” grade is not applicable to students who have received less than 30 points in current performance. 10. Technical problems during the exam 10.1 If students have technical problems for more than 10 minutes during the exams, they are given the opportunity to retake the exam within 72 hours online orally. At the same time, after the loss of communication, the student must immediately notify the manager of the dean's office or teacher by sending a message via WhatsApp indicating the discipline, the name of the teacher and the time of leaving the exam, in extreme cases, call the manager of the dean's office. 10.2 If technical problems last less than 10 minutes, only ONE reconnection is allowed. Subsequent reconnections to the student are not allowed, therefore, when a second reconnection is attempted, the exam is interrupted and the student must retake the exam verbally within 72 hours. The student is obliged to immediately notify the manager of the dean's office or teacher by sending a message via WhatsApp indicating the discipline, the name of the teacher and the time of departure from the exam, in extreme cases, call the manager of the dean's office. 11 Appeal 11.1 When holding an examination session in the DOT mode, it is allowed to appeal only in the disciplines where the exams were held. 11.2 If the student disagrees with the mark given by the exam results, the student has the right to file an appeal only after discussing the points received with the teacher. Teacher permission is not required to file an appeal.
