The Austin District plans, designs, builds, operates and maintains the state transportation system in its 11 counties. The district conducts asset preservation and mobility projects to help keep motorists moving and to ensure the safety of the traveling public.

MAINTENANCE: We spend approximately $100 million annually on maintaining our system, including U.S. Senators: , tasks such as seal coats/overlays, pavement repairs and other preventive maintenance projects, to address mobility and improve safety on highways. The Austin District has a pavement score of 93%, the highest score for metro districts. In 2020, 35 safety projects worth $53 million began construction. In the next two years, the Austin District will put out for bid 48 projects worth $69 million.
