6 7 Community Sports AFL 9s in the Bay and Basin The Bay and Basin Bombers AFL Club is Sailing Team excited to announce the commencement of their first ever AFL 9s competition. AFL 9s is the AFL’s social version of the game. It’s a fast, free-flowing game that involves 9 players on each team playing on a smaller Young Gun Bombers Team field. The appeal of AFL 9s is that it is non-contact with no tackling or bumping, making it suitable for people of any age or skill level. Importantly, AFL 9s provides a welcoming environment for both men and women where fun, enjoyment and safety are a priority. The competition has received strong local SUP Team community support with 6 teams entered in the inaugural competition which runs on a Wednesday night at the Bomber Oval located next to the Bay and Basin Leisure Centre. The season will run for the duration of the school term. The 6 teams include: the Young Gun Bombers, Clontarf Eagles, Vicious and Delicious (SUP with George), Not So Fast Not So Fast and Furious and Furious, Vincentia Sailing Club and Just Kick Straight. The season is shaping up to be a tightly contested affair with finals held in the last week of Term 1. Due to high demand the Just Kick Straight Team Club will be running another competition in Term 4. Please check out the Bay and Basin Bombers AFL 9s Competition page on Facebook for further information and to register your interest for the upcoming Term 4 competition. 17 THUMBS UP TO SUPPORTING LOCAL BUSINESS I have been working towards making note of local businesses who go above and beyond in their service to their customers. It would be very remiss of me not to mention Sanctuary Point Printing who do so much for the community. Not only do they do a wonderful job with their printing but their help and assistance in community projects is admirable. Peter and his wonderful assistant, Michelle make my tasks so much easier I cannot thank them enough. Nothing is a problem and time and energy is donated to the community with a smile. Peter and I even share a birthday so we can wish each other well on our special day. He has a couple of energetic little dogs who make sure Peter and Michelle know that someone is approaching the door. No sneaking around with this boisterous group!! It has been my pleasure to have worked with them for some years and I look forward to the rest of our journey. Give them a try – you will not regret it. Veronica Husted, Sanctuary Point

Many people use the magazine as a local business guide to find contacts for odd jobs and specialised services they may need. It is always good to hear about the great work and service the local businesses are supplying to the community.
