JIM OVIA’S RECEPTION TO COMMEMORATE GODWIN EMEFIELE’S 2ND TERM AS CBN GOVERNOR A few week’s ago, President Muhammadu Buhari nominated Godwin Emefiele for a second term as governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Emefiele’s first appointment was in 2014 by former President Goodluck Jonathan which he retained when Buhari came to office in 2015, making him the first governor to be nominated for two terms since Nigeria turned returned to democracy in 1999. The calm demeanor of Emefiele and his stewardship at the helm of affairs at the CBN, clearly played a major role in his reappointment, chief of which was his intervention in the FX market to ensure the stability of the Naira. He also delisted some items from the forex window, compelling Nigerians to look within in terms of building local productivity, not to mention introducing financing initiatives for farmers, and small and medium enterprises, to mention a few. His numerous policies have played a role in stimulating the Nigerian economy. To mark his return for a second term as well as give accolades for his hard work and success in this role, Emefiele’s former boss, Jim Ovia, Chairman and Founder JIM OVIA YEMI OSINBAJO, VICE PRESIDENT ALIKO DANGOTE ISMAILA ISA FUNTUA HRH RILWAN AKIOLU of Zenith Bank Plc, held a reception at the Civic Centre, Lagos, OF FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA OBA OF LAGOS in his honour.
