Second-Round Leaderboard Justin Rose (N/S) 65-71—136 (-8) Adam Hadwin (S/N) 66-71—137 (-7) Brandt Snedeker (N/S) 68-69—137 (-7) Ollie Schniederjans (S/N) 69-69—138 (-6) Keegan Bradley (N/S) 69-69—138 (-6)

Justin Rose Justin Rose opened with his lowest score in 23 rounds at the Farmers Insurance Open, a 7-under 65 which included six birdies, two eagles and three bogeys. He followed that up with a 1-under 71 in the second round on the South Course at Torrey Pines. Rose’s 8-under-par 136 total puts him one-stroke ahead of Canada’s Adam Hadwin and defending champion Brandt Snedeker, who he was grouped with for the first two rounds.

Rose has led/co-led 11 times after 36 holes of a PGA TOUR event entering this week and has converted for the win twice (2010 Quicken Loans National and 2011 BMW Championship). His most recent second-round lead/co-lead was the 2013 Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard, where he finished runner-up.

A competitor who played the North Course in the first round has not won the tournament since 2010 (Ben Crane). The last six winners all started the tournament playing the South Course.

In seven previous starts at the Farmers Insurance Open, Rose has never finished inside the top 20. His best finish is a T22 in 2010 and he missed the cut in his last two starts (2015, 2016).

In his lone start of the 2016-17 PGA TOUR season, Rose finished runner-up in the Sony Open in Hawaii. Despite rounds of 66- 64-66-64, he finished seven strokes behind winner Justin Thomas.

Last season marked Rose’s first winless season on the PGA TOUR since 2009. The Olympic Gold medalist posted a third-place finish at the 2016 Wells Fargo Championship, his best showing in an official PGA TOUR start in 2015-16.

Rose is in search of his eighth career PGA TOUR victory and first since the 2015 Zurich Classic of New Orleans. He has never won wire-to-wire on TOUR, meaning Rose has never held the outright lead after the completion of each round.

Rose’s third-round scoring average is 71.75. He has only broken par once in four attempts in the round following the 36-hole cut (70 – 2012).

Second-round Lead Notes Since 2000, the only two players to convert a 36-hole lead/co-lead into victory at the Farmers Insurance Open have been Phil Mickelson (2000, 2001) and Tiger Woods (2008, 2013).

Through 10 events in the 2016-17 PGA TOUR Season, seven players have carried a second-round lead/co-lead on to victory: Justin Thomas (CIMB Classic), Hideki Matsuyama (WGC-HSBC Champions), Rod Pampling (Shriners Hospitals for Children Open), Mackenzie Hughes (The RSM Classic), Justin Thomas (SBS Tournament of Champions, Sony Open in Hawaii) and Hudson Swafford (CareerBuilder Challenge).
