Television's hit series, "The Mentalist," currently in its fifth season on CBS. Baker has also received Emmy, Golden Globe and a SAG nominations for the role. Previously, Baker had starred as Nick Fallin in the CBS drama "The Guardian," from 2001 M04.He wah widespread critical praise for his portrayal of a hardened corporate lawyer sentenced to work as a legal child advocate after being found guilty of drug possession. In the first season, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association recognized Baker with a Golden Globe nomination for best actor in a drama series. In 2007, Baker made the transition from television star to big screen leading man with two diverse roles. In the critically acclaimed feature The Devil Wears Prada, Baker starred opposite Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway as the dashing Christian Thompson. In the romantic comedy Something New, Baker played a working class landscaper who falls in love with an uptight professional African-American played.by Sanaa Lathan. Baker first gained widespread attention in the acclaimed feature film L.A. Confidential, following this success with a string of memorable performances in An Affair of the Necklace, Red Planet, Sunset Strip, Judas Kiss and the horror sequel The Ring 2, opposite Naomi Watts and Sissy Spacek. Baker garnered acclaim for his turn in the independent film Book of Love, which screened in competition at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival. Baker was part of the all-star cast of Ang Lee's critically acclaimed Ride With the Devil, which screened at the 1999 Deanville Film Festival and was also a gala presentation at the 1999 Toronto Film Festival. Baker's other film credits include Sex and Death 101 and Land of the Dead (a critically acclaimed thriller COM starring Dennis Hopper and John Leguizamo), as well as the independent films Restaurant, Love from Ground Zero, Not Forgotten, Women in Trouble and The Killer Inside Me, which debuted at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. In 2011, he co-starred alongside Kevin Spacey, Demi Moore and Zachary Quinto in Lionsgate's Margin Call, which won an Independent Spirit Award for Best Ensemble Cast. Baker and producer Mark Johnson recently acquired Tim Winton's novel Breath to adapt into a feature film which they will co-produce. Baker will also star in the film which follows a pair of teenagers in Western Australia as they look to escape the monotony of life in a small town by taking up surfing lessons from Sando (Baker). He will next be seen in writer/director Dan Mazer's I Give it a Year, alongside Anna Faris and Rose Byrne. CHARITY: Simon is actively involved in the charity Life Rolls On (LRO). LRO is able-bodied individuals. working in concert with those with spinal cord injury, to motivate each other with the inspirational message of achievement in the face of extreme adversity. Life Rolls On utilizes action sports through a flagship program, They Will Surf Again, which pushes the boundary of possibility for those with spinal cord injury (SCI).

This particular cyclical genre influx was notable for the resurgence and reformulating of the amateur sleuth; this time remerging as the gifted police consultant, a figure capable of insights that the police could not manage. I term these new shows ‘consultant procedurals’. Consequently, the genre moved away from dealing with the ills of society and instead focused on the mystery of crime. Refocusing the genre gave rise to new issues. Questions are raised about how knowledge is gained and who has the right to it. With the individual consultant spearheading criminal investigation, without official standing, the genre is re-inflected with issues around legitimacy and power. The genre also reengages with age-old questions about the role gender plays in the performance of investigation. With the aim of answering these questions one of the jobs of this thesis is to find a way of analysing genre that accounts for both its larger cyclical, shifting nature and its simultaneously rigid construction of particular conventions.

    ISSUE 38 Simon Baker film to boost Denmark TV star’s feature film of Tim Winton novel Funding secured through the GSDC helped to clinch a decision to produce a feature film of Tim Winton’s award-winning novel Breath in the Great Southern. Australian actor and star of The Mentalist Simon Baker visited Denmark on Friday 10 July for the announcement of the project. The production of Breath is supported by $1.5 million in State Government Royalties for Regions funding administered through the GSDC and $800,000 through ScreenWest. Mr Baker will star in and direct the film, and said he was familiar with the book. A location-scouting tour of the South West included a visit to Denmark, and Mr Baker said he and Australian producer Jamie Hilton immediately felt it was the right place to make the film. The Library Building Committee with assistance from Architect Philip O’Brien, Johnson/Roberts Associates and Daniel Pallotta and Rob Todisco, P3, Inc. project managers, were very active in the planning stage, meeting several times each month. As soon as the funding announcement for $2.7 million was received from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners in February, design development began and was completed in September. Director, Barbara Friedman applied for and administers the grant and is a non-voting member of the Committee. A groundbreaking ceremony will occur in early 2019 with the construction phase lasting about a year and a grand opening planned for early 2020. The More We Share the More We Save The Erving Library is a member the following agencies: the Massachusetts Library System (MLS), which provides free delivery and continuing education services; the Central/Western Massachusetts Automated Resource Sharing (C/W MARS) network which connects the library to the regional online catalog and provides digital content; the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC) which provides construction money and other direct state aid; an ADHOC group of area librarians, which shares local resources, program planning and grants.

In that spirit, we believe the time is right to further the work you have done around revising our national policies on the criminal justice system and continue moving from a suppression-based model to one that focuses on intervention and rehabilitation. We are proud of your accomplishments around these issues, specifically your leadership on gun control, your investments in "problem solving courts," your creation of the Federal Interagency Reentry Council, your launching the National Forum on Youth Violence Prevention and your prosecution of a record number of hate crimes in 2011 and 2012. We certainly hope that this type of leadership is appreciated by all members of Congress, regardless of political affiliation, and you are joined by members of all parties in your pursuit of a more perfected union.
