“Stretch forth your hand to the poor (Sir 7:32) Sunday November 15, 2020 Saint Teresa of Calcutta is celebrating the World Day of the Poor

“I am a little pencil in the hand of a writing God who is sending a love letter to the world.”

(Saint Teresa of Calcutta)

unday, November 15 is World Day of the Poor. What can we do as a parish? S This is not something that needs a joyful celebration; however, we can faith- fully and spiritually join with the Pope to acknowledge that day.

Jesus said: “The poor you will always have with you; but you will not always have me” (Matthew 26:11). A gesture of gratitude for everything that the Lord has done for each one of us is a sign that helps us to perform an act of worship acceptable to the Lord. Of course, we draw more blessings upon us by being gen- erous and kind to the less fortunate. made a very true statement: “The Lord’s blessing descends upon us and prayer attains its goal when accom- panied by service to the poor.”

For this, Brothers and Sisters, from wherever you are, I am asking you to help us to make this date a great day. How? I invite you to share whatever you can to support the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul in our parish, whose mission is to help those who are hurting financially.

If your heart desires to support this great day, you can pick up an envelope either from the parish office or the back of our churches to share your donation. This is a specific way to show your love for your neighbor. Please write a short prayer note on the envelope as a sign of your kindness to one person who will go hun- gry in the world or our diocese. I thank you for being a blessing for the world and for those who will go without today or tomorrow. Please join our parish in being that “little pencil in the hand of a writing God who is sending a love letter to the world”.

May you and your family be blessed.

Intercessory Prayer Ministry

This is a group of people who devote specific time to pray for the needs of others in the parish. As part of the Intercessory Prayer group, each of our parish ministries will be assigned a week and create an intention for a specific need of our parish. In order to give structure to this hour, these are the areas that we will concentrate on praying for: Church leadership, the world, our parish ministries, parish missions, parish pastoral planning, and parish spiritual events. During the year, each ministry will be assigned a week to participate in the Intercessory Prayer devotion along with the Intercessory Prayer Ministry and the entire parish as follows: x Each member of the ministry is asked to spend an hour in prayer during the week for those intentions. x If possible, the hour of prayer should be spent with the Blessed Sacrament which is exposed Monday through Friday for an hour after the conclusion of the 9:00am mass (from approximately 9:30 until 10:30). If they are unable to attend in person, the members of the ministry are asked to spend an hour in prayer for the intentions sometime during that ministry’s week. Choose a place and time that works for you. The exposition will be streamed on Facebook Live if this is convenient for any of the members of your ministry.

Parish Prayer Intention for the Week of November 15-21

Compelled to live as Jesus encourages us in the Gospel of Matthew 25, “As often as you did it for one of my least ones, you did it for me,” We pray for all those whose lives are oppressed by poverty, hunger, homelessness, unemployment, racism, and all types of injustice. We pray for good health and strength for all those suffering from the corona vi- rus, their families and medical staff. May God grant us the courage and compassion to continue to serve those in need in our parish community and neighborhoodshoods as farfar as we are able in these difficult times. GLORIA Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you; we bless you; we adore you; we glorify you; we give you thanks for your great glory, Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father. Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begoen Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us. For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God, the Father. Amen.

She brings him good, and not evil, all the days of her life. She obtains wool and flax and works with loving hands. She puts her hands to the distaff, and her fingers ply the spindle. She reaches out her hands to the poor, and extends her arms to the needy. Charm is decepve and beauty fleeng; the wom- an who fears the LORD is to be praised. Give her a reward for her labors, and let her works praise her at the city gates.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM

SECOND READING: 1 THES 5:1-6 Concerning mes and seasons, brothers and sisters, you have no need for anything to be wrien to you. For you yourselves know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief at night. When people are saying, "Peace and security," then sudden disaster comes upon them, like labor pains upon a preg- nant woman, and they will not escape. But you, brothers and sisters, are not in dark- ness, for that day to overtake you like a thief. For all of you are children of the light and children of the day. We are not of the night or of darkness. Therefore, let us not sleep as the rest do, but let us stay alert and sober.

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION

11 0527—STC GOSPEL: MT. 25: 14-30 Jesus told his disciples this parable: "A man going on a journey called in his servants and entrusted his possessions to them. To one he gave five talents; to another, two; to a third, one--to each according to his ability. Then he went away. Immediately the one who received five talents went and traded with them, and made another five. Like- wise, the one who received two made another two. But the man who received one went off and dug a hole in the ground and buried his master's money.

"Aer a long me the master of those servants came back and seled accounts with them. The one who had received five talents came forward bringing the addional five. He said, 'Master, you gave me five talents. See, I have made five more.’ His mas- ter said to him, 'Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small maers, I will give you great responsibilies. Come, share your master's joy.’ Then the one who had received two talents also came forward and said, 'Master, you gave me two talents. See, I have made two more.' His master said to him, 'Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small maers, I will give you great responsibilies. Come, share your master's joy.’ Then the one who had received the one talent came forward and said, 'Master, I knew you were a demanding person, harvesng where you did not plant and gathering where you did not scaer; so out of fear I went off and buried your talent in the ground. Here it is back. 'His master said to him in reply, 'You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I did not plant and gather where I did not scaer? Should you not then have put my money in the bank so that I could have got it back with interest on my return? Now then! Take the talent from him and give it to the one with ten. For to everyone who has, more will be given and he will grow rich; but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. And throw this useless servant into the darkness outside, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.'"

Creed:

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visi- ble and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begoen Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begoen, not made, consubstanal with the Father, through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvaon, he came down from heaven.
