LET’S GO CRAZY Nino Niederreiter posted three points tonight (2g, 1a), including his 300th career NHL point (assist). He joined Mark Streit (96-338—434), (111-310—421) and Mark Hardy (62-306—368) as the fourth Swiss-born player in NHL history to record 300 career points (145g, 155a). He now leads the team with nine goals this season, and he has scored nine goals through 15 games for the first time in his NHL career (previously had eight in 2017-18 with MIN).

SWEET SIXTEEN Vincent Trocheck scored a goal tonight to extend his point streak to five games (2/11-2/19: 2g, 4a), marking the longest point streak by a Hurricanes player this season. Jordan Staal (1/28-2/2: 1g, 5a; 2/11-2/17: 5g, 1a), Brett Pesce (1/31-2/7: 1g, 4a), Brock McGinn (2/4-2/11: 4g) and Andrei Svechnikov (2/11-2/17: 4a) each recorded four-goal point streaks this season.

TRUE COLORS Teuvo Teravainen posted two assists tonight for his 67th career multi-point game and his third of the season (1/14 at DET: 2a and 2/15 vs. CBJ: 1g, 3a). In four career games wearing a Whalers uniform, Teravainen has earned eight points (3g, 5a), which is the most of any Hurricanes player in those games.

NOTHIN’ BUT A GOOD TIME James Reimer made 26 saves in net tonight to improve to 8-1-0 this season. In his last 22 regular season games with the Hurricanes, he has posted a 16-2-2 record with a 2.86 goals-against average, .904 save percentage and two shutouts.

GLORY DAYS The Hurricanes wore their gray Whalers Reverse Retro uniforms for the first of two games this season. Carolina wore Whalers uniforms for the fourth time since relocating to North Carolina in 1997, and the team has now posted a 3-0-1 record in those four games. During their 18 seasons in Hartford, the Whalers compiled a 534-709-177 regular season record and an 18-31 record in eight playoff appearances, including seven straight playoff berths from 1986-92. Hartford posted a 17-26-6 record against Chicago.

TIME AFTER TIME Carolina opened their third of 11 sets of back-to-back games this season tonight. The Hurricanes are now 3-0-0 in the first game and 1-1-0 in the second game of back-to-backs in 2020-21.
