San Felice Il Grigio Gran Selezione Chianti Classico 2014 ISF003 AGRICOLA SAN FELICE TOSCANA, ITALY 13.5% | 6 x 75cl | Cork Sangiovese 80% A seriously complex, generous style of Chianti Classico produced from San Felice's oldest vines and best plots of Sangiovese (80%), with a mix of other native varieties from their experimental vitiarium, including Pugnitello, Abrusco and Malvasia Nera. San Felice Il Grigio Gran Selezione Chianti Classico 2014 ISF003 AGRICOLA SAN FELICE TOSCANA, ITALY PRODUCTION The Sangiovese grapes were sourced from the Colti, Chiesamonti and Pianaccio vineyards. The additional indigenous grapes (Abrusco, Pugnitello, Malvasia Nera, Ciliegiolo and Mazzese) were sourced from the Montebello, Civettino, Le Rose, La Cappella and Camponovo vineyards. Average altitide of 400m. After harvesting in the second week of October, each grape variety was fermented separately in stainless steel, followed by a 22-day maceration at 28-30 degrees C. After malolactic fermentation the wine was matured for 24 months - half in large 60-100hl Slavonian oak ovals and half in 225-500l French oak barriques. The wine was then held in bottle for a further 8 months before release. TASTING NOTE Ripe, opulent and spicy nose with complex aromas of violets, cassis, tobacco and liquorice. Full- bodied and richly flavoured - concentrated ripe plum and dried black fruit characters are enhanced by fine tannins, beautifully balanced acidity and well-integrated spicy oak. Will improve with cellaring of 5-10 years. FOOD MATCH Roast and / or grilled meats - or a bit of game if you're that way inclined. Either way it deserves to partner something truly tasty! Giorgio Rivetti has been drawn to wine since he was six years old, growing up in Piedmont in Northwestern Italy, often taking a nip of what was being poured. By the time he was a teenager he was enrolled in a formal wine program. His father Giuseppe Rivetti had grown grapes and made small amounts of wine. That changed in 1977 when the Rivetti family — Giuseppe, Giorgio and his brothers Bruno and Carlo — began La Spinetta. They focused on Moscato d’Asti, a slightly bubbly, sweet dessert wine made from the Muscat grape. In 1985 they started making their first red wine, Cà di Pian, from Barbera grapes. And the growth continued. In 1995 they purchased the Gallina vineyard and began producing Nebbiolo wines in Barbaresco. In 2000 they entered the prestigious region of Barolo, building a winery at the Campè vineyard. The winery expanded beyond Piedmont in 2001 when they began producing wines in Tuscany at the Casanova winery. A Methode Champenoise winery was added to the portfolio in 2011 with the purchase of Contratto, located back in Piedmont. Despite the steady growth, the wines of La Spinetta have remained some of Italy’s best. Rivetti, 57, is a passionate and focused winemaker with a strong belief in tradition. -

SAN FELICE is located in the commune of Castelnuovo Berardenga, a few kilometres from Siena, in the heart of Chianti Classico, and it is owned by Allianz since the late ‘70s. Surrounding the tiny medieval hamlet and the winery complex are 140 hectares of vineyard, planted 80% to sangiovese, a testimony to the commit- ment of San Felice to the production of Chianti Classico with a manifest bond to its local terroir, as shown by its ‘Il Grigio’ and ‘Poggio Rosso’ wines. But at the same time, San Felice has won recognition as a very innova- tive producer and committed researcher. Eloquent ex- amples are its historic wine Vigorello, the precursor to the Supertuscan wines, and Pugnitello, made from the ancient Tuscan grape of the same name, which San Felice re-discovered and experimented with over many San Felice 2013 years, in collaboration with the University of Florence. Chianti Classico In 1982, San Felice purchased the wine estate of CAMPOGIOVANNI in Montalcino, comprised of 20 hectares on the southern slope of that wine zone, and began producing Brunello. After just a few years, with the 1990 vintage, Cam- Il Grigio 2012 pogiovanni entered the ranks of the elite of Montal- Chianti Classico Riserva cino by winning 7th place in the Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines of the World and more recently the 4th place with the vintage 2006. Today, then, San Felice possesses some 210 hectares of vineyards and produces an average of a million bottles per year, entirely from estate-grown grapes. Vigorello 2011 Finally, 1990 saw the launch of an ambitious re- structuring of the San Felice hamlet, with the establish- ment of an elegant hotel complex, a member of the pres- tigious Relais & Chateaux group; for years now Traveller Il Grigio 2013 magazine has rated it as one of the finest Resorts in Eu- Gran Selezione rope. -

CASTELLO DI BROLIO 2016 SANGIOVESE 97%, ABRUSCO 3% CHIANTI CLASSICO DOCG GRAN SELEZIONE VINEYARD Castello di Brolio is created from a meticulous selection of the best Sangiovese and Abrusco grapes from the estate’s vineyards, spread over 240 hectares of land. The production of each vintage may thus vary in quantity, but quality is always outstanding. The vineyards are at 400 to 500 meters above sea level, facing south/south-west. The perfect exposure and excellent elevation of the land as well as the very stony soil are responsible for the typicality of this wine. SOIL Castello di Brolio is our flagship wine created from a meticulous selection of estate-grown grapes from the five most representative soils in Brolio: Macigno del Chianti (sandstone), Scaglia Toscana or Argillite di Brolio (Galestro), Monte Morello (calcarenite or Alberese), Pliocene marine sediments and the ancient fluvial terrace. GROWING SEASON The autumn and winter were very mild this year, with below-freezing temperatures only in part of January. It was rainy, about 440 mm. In the spring, temperatures were average, with the end of May and early June hot but humid. This diminished the fruit set causing a thinning effect in the clusters that was good for the Sangiovese. Two hailstorms at the end of May also led to loss of flowers, thus reducing per-plant growth. Summer was hot and dry. End-July and Mid-August rains gave some relief to the plants, helping them during the period of veraison. Harvest began in early September, with temperatures mid-to-high for that period of the year during the day and a drop of as much as 10-15°C at nights, favoring the accumulation of phenolic compounds. -
