POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Community Engagement Coordinator- (30hrs per week)

Responsible to: CDIS Director & FCIS Team Lead

We're looking for a highly motivated, community minded individual to help build community capacity in laying the foundation for an inclusive and welcoming Claresholm through community development principles such as increasing the ability of individuals and groups to influence issues that affect them and their communities through sustainable networks and inclusionary practices. Known for our focus on servicing newcomers ‐ and our innovative and collaborative community partnerships – Committed to the communities of Southern , our Immigration services is client and community focused proudly providing services to over 8,000 clients each year

Functional Statement: The Community Engagement coordinator will collaborate with various groups, service providers and community members to identify key issues or challenges facing new Canadians using a community‐based research model and devise practical approaches to foster integration through the building of community capacity. Duties & Responsibilities: Develop and deliver Community Based Action project.  Develop and implement a community engagement action plan research  Organize, Plan and Facilitate community meetings and events  Facilitate group sessions  Creation and development of a Welcoming Claresholm community committee  organizing and coordinating community inclusionary partnerships.  Provide capacity‐building for community agencies, cultural associations, clubs, and social/ethno‐specific media  Work closely with EDO in meeting the project’s mandate  Facilitate, event planning, organize and collaborate with community stakeholders  Collect, analyze and report data pertaining to the project  Write reports including a final evaluation report  To engage and work with multiple stakeholders in the communities in order to facilitate access and support for integration of immigrant newcomers in the community.  Promotion, marketing and maintenance of the project Website

Qualifications/Competencies:  Related post‐secondary degree Social Work  Experience in working with diverse cultures  Facilitating Advisory committees and community stakeholders to develop and implement strategies that will facilitate a coordinated approach to welcoming and settling immigrants in the community.  Promoting community, public and educational events, that foster inclusion of immigrants in the community  Engage and support ethno‐ cultural organizations participation within the community  Excellent communication skills  Facilitation skills, groups, meetings  Proficient using the latest versions of Microsoft Office.  Ability to work well with a team  Knowledge of settlement needs and issues  willingness to learn new technologies is essential.  background in social research, immigration studies or related field is an asset.
